Y'know, one of the things that I brought up to my wife (who is a major Twilight fan, god help her) is this: The whole vampire thing was based on Vlad "The Impailer" Tepish - so how did we get from some sicko motherfucker that used to stick hundreds or thousands of people on stakes to this lovey-dovey romantic bullshit which is used to represent vampires now? I want to see throats torn out, people getting slaughtered, not sparkly-skinned freaks who woo teenagers.. I mean, WTF?! Well, Dracula was based on Vlad the Impailer. . . .but the vampyre myth goes back quite a bit before that.

The show "The Vampire Diaries" would have to be the best from the lot of "Twilight"/"True Blood" etc. teen vampire things. It actually has an intelligent writing staff that isn't afraid to be tongue-in-cheek (or fang-in-cheek I should say). It's worth watching. I become ill when I see people comparing Stephenie Meyer to Anne Rice. Anne is probably one of the most talented horror writers of all time and her work is amazing. I'd go as far as saying the novel "The Vampire Lestat" is probably one of the finest (if not finest) vampire novel ever written. Stephenie Meyer reminds me of young adult writers like "Goosebumps" from back in the early 90's. You can't compare them. The whole "Twilight" thing is a terrible fad that should soon die. There's nothing wrong with a film/series being targeted at younger females if it's done RIGHT and is compelling story-telling. The "Twilight" series is neither. Stephen King has even gone so far as calling Stephenie Meyer: "A terrible writer" and he almost never publicly bad-mouth's anyone. j.p. It was a lady friend who pushed Rices erotic books on me, one trilogy which was a very adult take on the Sleeping Beauty myth. This series put most porn fantasies we guys can have to shame. She also did Exit To Eden, which was a good book but a God Awful movie. Dana Delany in fetish gear was the only saving grace. You can't afford to act high and mighty over Twilight if you make excuses for pedestrian entertainment like Buffy. You're often a hostile little fucker, you know that? So, has anyone had an opportunity to see this brilliant work of film-making genius yet? Yet again it's time for a new "Twilight" film so we can see hunky guys running around with their shirt off (abs! abs! abs!) and some wonderful romance scenes. I know everyone here is extremely excited and looking forward to seeing this absolute gem of movie-making and I'm certainly looking forward to all the reviews that will be presented here. I know I can't wait to watch this film! Will Team Jacob win over Team Edward or will tragedy strike? I know, like the rest of you, I can barely hold back my excitement! No doubt, this is going to be not only the film of the summer but the film of the year as well just like the first two "Twilight" films were two of the best (and scary!) horror films ever created as well. I know I celebrate every opportunity watching both of the released films on Blu-Ray as often as possible. Ah, and that Robert Pattison and Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart! Aren't they just amazing actors? Man, everyone in these films from Dakota Fanning to the extras are just pure talent. The books are just so great and I've gone through five copies of all of them from reading them non-stop. That Stephenie Meyer is an amazing author! She certainly beats Anne Rice or any other vampire writer out there without a doubt. Anyway, I'm soooo excited to see "Twilight: Eclipse" even though I know I'll be bummed about having to wait in a line to go see it. But, what can you do? It's worth waiting in a line with all the other fantastic fans to see this great work! Let me know your thoughts on this greatest series of films ever as well and we can show our appreciation for Ms. Meyer and her great work as well as showing our appreciation for the films! j.p. And oh my God the fan fiction that must've come from this rubbish is most probably unreadable - imagine a generation of writers who've only read Stephanie Meyer books. Christ. One thing I loved about Anne Rice was one of her latest books was absolutely trounced on Amazon by her fans - and she used her account to write a massive response justifying her actions and intentions for characters like Lestat etc - I say latest books, this happened at least 7 years ago - but I remember the moment very well, hilarious.
