PSN down for a week, Sony rebuilding it

After a week of downtime after a hacker attack, Sony finally comes out and says something:

We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.
Even the XBL outage of 2007 wasn't this bad, hopefully it gets resolved. I'd be pissed if I bought Portal 2 or Mortal Kombat last week and couldn't play either online.

It was kind of a downer because I couldn't use netflix, but MK has been fun enough on single player and with friends/wife.

It's not really that big of a deal because I have other systems, but I would be pissed if I couldn't switch my netflix to the wii.

its funny that EVERYONE i know who owns a ps3 besides me is complaining about two specific things.

    mortal kombat and portal 2

Seriously though it sucks but when i aint paying for it i cant really complain, in the long run events like this can only end with the provider having to improve their service in the long run so i can live without metal gear online for a while.

    Uh oh:

Sony's investigations over the past week determined that an "unauthorized person" had obtained users' names, home addresses, e-mail addresses, birth dates and passwords, according to a statement being sent to all account holders.

    Fuck yeah!

I would play that shit for weeks on end before I played these new games that you can only play online. I still remember playing pong on that shit.

As MZ said before, some of my best gaming times were with friends right next to me. Whether it be pong, mario, Mortal Kombat, Goldenye, or Halo.....its always more fun playing with the buddies....

I've been able to use Netflix just fine on my PS3, during this downtime.

I believe the problem is because I sign in and out of psn. Since the network was down and I couldn't sign in, it wouldn't let me use netflix.

That's weird, cause it prompts me to sign in, then informs me the network is down, but starts up Netflix anyway.

On another note, how the HELL do they expect us to change our passwords in order to be safe, if they won't let us do a damn thing on their website?

    How about?

Or maybe you should go play outside, and get some fresh air.
    Those aren't real problems, Sam.
