So wait. Ebert gets in all this trouble for saying "friends dont let jackasses drink and drive", right? We know Dunn definitely WAS drinking and driving. So is the offensive part where he called them Jackasses? If so.....someone should point out that Bam's mom called them all jackasses in her statement. "Our whole entire Jackass family is like beside themselves. I can't believe it." The people bitching are just fans of this talentless hack and don't want to accept that the dumbass killed himself. Come at me. Context is everything. Since it was family calling them that it's ok. And I agree. However, This is what passes for a celeb now days. Ebert was insensitive for making a smart-arse comment like that so soon after the event itself. I don't disagree that drinking and driving, and reckless driving, is an extremely stupid thing to do - indeed it cost Dunn and his passenger their lives - but at the same time there's no need to make a smart-arsey comment on Twitter about it when his family and friends are in an extremely bruised emotional state. Dunn and his passenger made a stupid decision - however perhaps it was more down to the reckless driving, rather than the drinking (twice the limit? While it is over the limit, it's not blotto, and with the amount Dunn is known to be able to consume, I doubt he was shitfaced wrecked ... even though he was over the limit) ... now, what specifically caused the accident? A blown tyre? Did the breaks lock up? Did they swerve to avoid an animal? Who knows - there's practically nothing left of the vehicle ... it's 'good' (for extreme lack of a better word) that no other drivers were involved (which would have made a tragic event even moreso) ... it was a costly mistake on the part of the deceased, and as I've said, I hope that this event will knock some sense in to the heads of young Jackass fans who drive recklessly, or who have just gotten their licenses and have their teenage sense of invincibility. ... i just checked out the details of this story. .196 blood alcohol level + 911 GT3 going about 130 mph + tree= extremely bad news. I've never been a fan of jackass, which i think is very aptly named, but dude was only 34 and this is sad news. in my limited exposure to jackass, i always thought this guy was the best & funniest of the lot.

Apparently it was a modified GT3 as well. Very light, very fast, and prone to fishtailing. I've read that the speed was more like 155mph too. Plus they were about a block away from their destination (Bam has speculated that they missed their turn-off - so if that was the case, you'd be trying to bring a very light car down from a vast speed and make a turn at the same time - that's just not going to happen - and it was a mistake that cost two lives). Dunn was definitely one of the funniest of the gang, if not the funniest - he had a really good sense of humour and sharp, sarcastic wit about him. I saw an interview on E! or Entertainment Weekly, or something like that, and it was a video interview with Bam and his wife Missy. The dude looks absolutely wiped out. As I've said before though, hopefully - at the very least anyway - young drivers who are also Jackass fans, will learn from Dunn's mistake. Don't drink and drive, and also - drive carefully. You're not just playing with your life, but those of all the other motorists around you - and what's more, think of those you'd be leaving behind.
