    16 planets similar to Earth

These are the 16 planets considered most like earth. number one on the list KOI 736.01 looks like a platinum hit. i wonder if there are folks there wondering, "where the f*ck is everyone at?" just like we are.

unfortunately, KOI 736.01 is over 1700 light years away.

you will also see another example of science fiction entering real science. any earth like planets are given the designation "Class M." remind you of something?

there are several class Ms on the list as well as some Class Ps (psycroplanet=cold) and some class Hs and a couple of class Ms.

As long as we never land on any Class D plants... Those are bad news!

Must be around a VERY small star to have an orbital period of just 19days, while still only having a temperature of about 286K!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. remember that about 75% of the stars in the milky way are red dwarf stars. stars far, far smaller than our sun.

it also means people from red sun worlds can see through things, fly, bend steel girders and stop bullets. sorry, i couldn't resist that.
