Question Data Recovery software - can anyone recommend some?

Okay so here's the deal - one of my computers is kind of on the way out slowly, and the other day it managed to corrupt a flash drive with data on it (around about 10gb of panel discussions, podcasts, music etc). It went from having the Fat32 file system to apparently having a "RAW" file system.

When I put the drive into a computer it says it needs to be reformatted - but naturally that would delete all the data on the drive - so before I go and do that, I want to know if there is any software out there that can recover that much data from a flash drive that has somehow (in the midst of a series of computer freezes/failures to boot ... long story) lost it's formatting (for lack of a better term).

I've found a couple of trial versions that only do limited amounts of data, but can anyone recommend me some software that can recover as much as 10gb of data? Preferably free too!

Try SpinRite. It's free, as far as I know.

    Thanks for the tip.

However I did find another piece of software and it worked a treat - I'd meant to close this thread as a result, but just plum forgot.
