the first one wasn't too bad. wasn't a horror movie that's for sure but as a cheesy action flick it was at least tolerable. i wholeheartedly agree about the other two so-called movies- they suck donkey gonads. all i can say about the scorpion king spinoffs is that my 9 year old nephew likes them. that should about do it...

The first PA was nothing fantastic and it definitely isn't something I feel a desire to watch again. I felt that the 2nd and 3rd ones were uneeded and were just another excuse for the movie studio to cash in and run a "franchise" into the ground. IMO the PA series is another example of the Asch Paradigm being used to hype a movie.

To put it simple this is my opinion of how it worked:

Create a viral campaign to make people think they are missing out if they aren't a part of it.

Create a trailer featuring audience members from around the country "scared" reactions to the film in order to reinforce to the appearance that this is the overwhelming reaction of normal people.

The result is a self-perpetuating system of peer pressure to get people into the theaters and to maintain a pre-programmed belief that it is a terrifying and exceptional film, or risk being one of those outside of the norm.

It works very well with younger audiences prone to fads and cliques.

One of the best comedies i've seen in years. Only they didn't intend for it to turn out that way....

So ridiculously boring and stale. Every single second of that movie was a waste of my life.

The silly rumbling noises gave up SO much tension. It basically says "something's going to happen now". And when the movie DID seem to take off, when it actually got to a level above slightly interesting, the movie ended.

It was so awful I lasted about 45 minutes into the sequel before turning off. The movies seem completely devoid of character, style, and tension, and quite frankly I'd never bother with a PA movie ever again. more fool the people who buy into it.

I pretty much agree with this summation! Well put.

Have you sent your resume to any of the major movie studios?

Ummmmmm, WTF does this have to do with the Mummy reboot?
The last ones were wayyyyyyyyyyy better than that PA crap.
Although I really only liked the first Mummy one. 2 & 3 sucked balls.

Sorry, the discussion was getting into sequels and I felt it ok to ask about PA. I've personally never seen the films nor do I want to. I think that they took the Blair Witch Project and shot it in a home. End of story.
