Not so harsh. People die all the time and in this day and age we record everything in this day and age. I'm surprised stuff like this doesn't happen more often.

The hypocrisy is hilarious: "Ohh, we're so sorry that our live coverage of a high-speed pursuit contained violence!" when we all know, the only reason they broadcast something like that is because they know rednecks and teenage boys will tune-in in their droves for the vicarious frisson of potentially seeing someone die live on air. Then when someone actually does die, Fox magically turns into the apologetic lodestar of respect and dignity. Bullshit!

It's like the manager of a burlesque show running out on stage to apologise that one of the girls accidentally showed a pube. Fox's whole style of reporting is a big sensationalist come-on to drive ratings, they can't suddenly claim innocence when a big cock-tease event like this ends with more than a tease.

Don't get me wrong, I am not some prude who thinks we should never see sex or violence on TV. But you know Fox would be running Traces of Death-style replays and doing close-up slow-motion expert analysis on the blood-splatter trajectory for hours on end if they thought they could get away with it, so the big apology is a crock of shit.

    It's like a self-cleaning oven, isn't it?
