Sounds rather daft and heartless... Surprised the cops involved even agreed to do it!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. I'm surprised the cops agree to do most of the shit they do nowadays.

They didn't have anything else better to do? What a waste of time.

Waste of time, resources, and an insult to a person who just lost a dear loved one. You'd think they'd wait a day, then maybe contact the man and ask him to turn in the prescriptions. If for some reason he didn't, then I can see them showing up with an officer or 2 and asking him for them. But to be there within minutes of a persons death, and searching the entire house, that's completely out of line.
It shows how police are just enforcers for the state. They aren't protectors of the people anymore. They're shock troops for an authoritarian state. This was a show of force, to let people know who's in control.
