Little Chernobyl/Pripyat piece on the BBC, some nice pics.

I know there is always interest in this kind of thing here due to our love of all things PA. Enjoy!

I personally love the 2nd pic...it's the ultimate definition of an "abandoned city" for me.

Love 11... Surely an HDR photo?
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. A few years back there was a girl that toured that area on her motorcycle and took photos and posted them to the web. I was fascinated from the start with that whole concept. I've always been fascinated by Soviet artwork and propaganda from the cold war. But doubly so when you throw in an abandoned city that suffered a nuclear reactor meltdown. These photos are much better than all the other ones I've seen.
    Thanks for posting these.

Wonder how much longer until people can return (in earnest)?

And a reminder of what radiation can do (this was supposed to be a puppy)...

So, just how safe is it to visit? I just don't wanna end up either glowing or unable to have kids.

The other night there I watched "Threads" for the first time in years. It's a harsh reminder as to the reality and the insanity of nuclear warfare. "Nobody wins a nuclear war".
