Problem with new building in London

There's a new £200m skyscraper in London. It's got an unusual hour glass shape, where its side is concave.

Problem is the designers didn't think what would happen with the sunlight, because it's focusing all that energy into a focused beam down on the streets below, so you sort of have a heat ray burning its way across the city below!

Peoples cars and bikes etc are getting melted

OK I add something about the topic:

It's happened before with buildings by the same architect!

and something weird found in other headlines:

Your link lead me to this video (eventually):

OT but do we really need two threads.

Saw this on the news last night...it's unbelievable!

Wasn't an office building that melts cars an element of a tossed out 007 script from the late 80s?

It always seemed to me it was a pet peeve of yours when people post wildly OT and fork a thread but hearing the sky groan like giant metal rubbing together is too crazy not to post, I couldn't help it.

BTW the cars were barely melted but it was enough damage that it has to be fixed. It said they paid almost 1000 pounds for the Jag. The other article says they applied a nonreflective coating to the other buildings which they should have known would have to be done to this one too.
