Let's hope it isn't a broken mess that requires a 1gb Day One patch like AC3!

I hope they've also shaken up the formula - I played AC2, Brotherhood, and Revelations - and all the button pushes for simple tasks, and all the goddamned shops to renovate etc was just busy work nonsense, they were chores, and it became lazy time-filler ... at the same time, the games also did many things right, but they also didn't change things up all that much either and it became 'more of the same' each time for the most part.

I avoided AC3 when I found out it was broken as hell at launch - they shouldn't be allowed to release a game as busted as that, because if you don't have a console hard-drive nor your console online (such as myself), then you can't patch the game at all ... so hopefully AC4 will correct recent mistakes and freshen things up considerably. In the videos I've seen of it (amongst the absolute tidal wave of never-ending AC4 videos that flood my YouTube feed every week, so it feels) it generally looks good.

October 29, 2013 is the release date.

This game reminds me so much of Sid Meier's Pirates.

I definitely like the look of it - sailing around the Caribbean, diving into clear blue waters and such.

I do hope they've removed a lot of the elements that became nothing but a chore in previous games though - and less button pushes for simple tasks (like buying health or poison).

Now an actual update of that game would have me excited. Easily one of the best games ever.

Let us know how it is - and what it looks like on the 360/PS3 compared to all the videos which, surely, are from next-gen consoles.

Video games are getting amazing aren't they!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Graphics wise I think it still impresses on current gen, according to the IGN review of the game (which gave it 8.5/10).

An improvement over AC3, but still has some of the down sides of past AC games (e.g. long-winded stalker missions during which exposition is fed out, while you stay out of their eyeline, and then finally kill them). It's apparently rather good when free roaming though.
