Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. For all of the production issues, this film turned out to be pretty good. It has the formulaic start of a superhero plot, but the humor seems to give it a certain edge. Although he still has story, producer, and screenplay credits, I would have absolutely love to have seen Edgar Wright's version of the film. That would have been something truly special. As it is, this is a perfectly serviceable entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Return of the Living Dead - 9/10

Obviously I've seen it before (several times), but it's been years since I last gave it a spin. Still as much fun as I remember it being. Going to follow it up with another spin for "More Brains" (the epic making of documentary about ROTLD).

Bone Tomahawk - 7.5/10: Good flick, if just a bit annoying when people walk into "enemy territory" down a small sunken passage making loads of noise, rather than keeping higher up and trying to be quiet

"400 Days" centers on four astronauts sent on a simulated mission to a distant planet to test the psychological effects of deep space travel. Locked away for 400 days, the crew's mental state begins to deteriorate when they lose all communication with the outside world. Forced to exit the ship, they discover that this mission may not have been a simulation after all.

"A Very Murray Christmas". Bill Murray, Sophia Coppola, lots of stars, and Christmas. What's not to like? 9/10

"American Ultra". Not bad. But nothing special either.
Certainly not worth the holier-than-thou rant that Max Landis posted around the time of it's release. 6/10
