In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Waltz himself refused to return without Craig and/or Mendes.
IF it's Craig's last, he does go out on a strong note - although I'd be very happy to get one more Craig era Bond out of him - but yeah, the ending does give you a sense that it could be the case. Maybe they were thinking that and did the ending like that as a just in case sort of a thing. If he does one more then it's all good, but if he doesn't then they mark the occasion somewhat.

As for a return of Oberhauser - frankly I'd be surprised if they don't follow up that story in the next Bond movie, that's how I read it. It could be jarring for a returning Waltz but not a returning Craig (which might be enough to twist Craig and Waltz's arms into doing another). IF they do a fifth Craig then hopefully it'll be a strong note for him to go out on.

We shall have to wait and see, I guess...

Thought it was very disapointing myself, especially after all the great strides they'd made with the previous Craig entries. The reverting back to all the stuff that had made Bond stale and tedious didn't do anything for 'Spectre' and the central story is simply dumb.

Bit of a shame really as I thought that the producers had brought Bond into a more intelligent world and he was better for it too. Circling back to all the crap they essentially rejected in 'CAsino Royale' was an extremely bad move.

I don't see it as reverting to the old Bond they got away from in Casino Royale. I see it as reintroducing classic staples of the series and making them work with Craig's real world take on the character. Bringing in the spectre organization, Blofeld, and a few gadgets doesn't mean they're reverting to what made the franchise faulter. All was brought in and blended quite well with Craig's realistic take, IMO. Besides, it wasn't the classic characters or trademarks of the series that they were trying to get away from when the series was rebooted with Craig. They were trying to get away from unbelievable and ridiculous things like Brosnan wind surfing a f*cking wave! To me, Craig's run with the series has perfectly grounded the character into a realistic and modern world while also staying true to the character. Even if he's had a couple films that weren't quite as good as we'd hoped. Considering the other bind actors, he's actually had one of the best runs yet!

Sunday night's triple bill for me was:

Grabbers - 6/10. A solid 'Tremors meets bitey squid things' Irish creature feature comedy.

Office Space - 9.5/10. Stone cold classic. Can't recall how many times I've seen it now.

Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 - 5/10. It's been a while since I last saw it, and I'd forgotten how ropey the script is. Memorably crazy characters, some good gore, but the story is an absolute mess and the production constraints are evident.

    Classic!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Unfriended - 5/10

The high concept works well (as if the whole movie is on a computer screen, with various tabs and Skype calls and IMs etc), but as a horror movie it didn't scare at all - but it was generally creepy, and has a little bit to say about cyber bullying and careless comments etc. It's more of a 'whodunnit' story wise. I wasn't sure if I'd end up watching the whole thing, and it's taken me a few weeks to get around to seeing it, but it was pretty decent. We don't need more movies like it though, I think it'd be best to leave it be and let it have its high concept as a unique selling point.

    'Super'

    5/10

If ever the line "tonally, all over the place" applied to anything, it's this film. Everyone is great in it, but it's jarring in the extreme. Maybe that's what they were going for?

As a result of a recent DVD buying spree, I re-watched some favorite films like they were brand new.

Seeking a friend for the end of the world. 9/10
I always find myself caught up in Dodge (Steve Carell) & Penny's (Keira Knightley )sentimental journey across America; to make amends and reconnect with past love before the world ends.

    Stardust. 9/10
This fantasy, freely adapted from Neil Gaiman's book of the same name, is it's own special kind of fantasy romance. Where a romantic young man Tristan(Charlie Cox ) travels across the wall to find a falling star and put it in his pocket for the girl he loves (Sienna Miller ): only to find that Yvaine (Claire Danes ) isn't that kind of falling star.

Godzilla: both the American & original Japanese versions. 10/10
Each versions will have a huge place in my heart, as one informed my early love of movies in the 60's and the future, while the original script carried a more solid ecological and political perspective.

    Ghostbusters. 9/10
This icon of 80's cinema is still a whole a lot of fun, is immensely quotable and I love it. That being said; if not for certain straight men(and women ), it might have been a different sort of movie entirely. Rick Moranis' pratfalls and Billy Murray's mugging were hilarious; but Annie Potts, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver especially kept the more serious elements in focus.

    The Mist. 10/10
Just watched this yesterday and it is still a solid bit of cinema on every level, Guerrilla filmmaking at it's best. Stephen King was happy with how Frank Darabont his novella, and I still find it terrifying to this day. Excellent work.

    30 Days of Night. 8/10
I've just started to re-watch this one, But as I remember from before the last portion of the movie did not quite measure up to the exciting and terrifying cat and mouse interplay between the last few human survivors and the gang of vampires.
