Absolutely mind boggling the effect this war had, CONTINUES to have, and WILL continue to have, for CENTURIES to come...

    Unbelievable stuff!

I went to Belgium on a school history trip way back when, and we visited various WWI sites - including some preserved trenches that you could walk through, including a tunnel that was pitch black and some stunningly cramped (and bleak) living quarters. Lots of recovered weapons parts on display - including two bullets that had hit each other head-on and had twisted together into one form.

At another site we saw a bomb crater and, blimey, in person they're gigantic - the scale of what those soldiers had to deal with suddenly becomes very real ... all the moreso when we visited some of the cemeteries. Stunning stuff.

Just imagine what a country would be like after a nuclear attack.

And you still have fools saying that a "limited exchange" could be "winnable".

Just WOW! Why isn't there a TV documentary on this?
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
