    The Orville (TV-Series)

    Anyone seen this?

It's a spoof on Star Trek by Seth MacFarlane.
I'm generally not a MacFarlane guy, and the trailer was horrible but I just watched the first episode and have to say I really - really - dug it.

The humour doesn't come off in the trailer at all. But put into the context of the scenes, the jokes work.

    Here's the, rather poor, trailer:

I'd forgotten about this, but glad to hear that it's good. I'll have to check it out when it reaches UK shores.

    I'll give it a go...
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Mmmmm...needed more jokes.

The effects are actually quite great for a show like this. Whoever's responsible put a lot of effort into it.

Don't know if I'll be sticking around too long though. Or whether the show will either.
