TWD will end with an extended Season 11

I haven’t watched the show recently, but can they really say it’s ending when all they’re doing is splitting it up into spin-offs? It doesn’t seem like an ending, they’re just expanding their income and spreading characters around. Is Kirkman still involved in any way? I’d imagine with the lawsuits, his producer credits are more of a courtesy and he’s gone?
