A bit unusual to have a big guest star like Robert Patrick and yet have him appear relatively briefly. I'm sure the show earns enough in profits to be able to afford hiring him for more onscreen time.

I dug this episode. Some good and juicy zombie stuff thrown in there, but also some tense character drama with a couple of surprising twists tossed into that mix.

There was a real sense of desolation in this one, too ... we don't tend to focus on that too much, or don't have the time, likewise with people losing loved ones in the apocalypse. Usually it's handled fairly quickly, although we do have the lingering loss of Glenn for Maggie, or now the case of the missing Rick Grimes, and now Leah come to think of it ... so they're adding a bit more of that emotional loss in the show that had been kinda swept aside quickly in the past.

They've had name stars and very familiar faces come on the show for just a single episode before on numerous occasions. It's a guest spot, not a recurring role.

Very bleak and interesting. All three actors killed it with their performances.

For the first time in a long time this really felt like a zombie apocalypse.
"That's the deal, right? The people who are living have it harder, right? … the whole world is haunted now and there's no getting out of that, not until we're dead."

Yeah, this one was pretty good - nice mix of tones, too, so Gabriel and Aaron could also have a laugh when drinking and gambling the night away after having such a fruitless day.

There was some interesting stuff going on in there, some of which they raised in Talking Dead - with Mays coming round to thinking that not everyone is evil, would he have gone with them and would he have been honest about his brother being tied up next to the dessicated corpses of his wife and kid? Was Mays too far gone, etc?

What if Gabriel hadn't have killed Mays, and Mays had gone along with them - without mentioning his brother being held captive - would Mays have been a productive member of the group? Would he have been accepted? Would he have gone and messed it all up and gone back to his Russian roulette madness?
