    Nope (film)

    Seeing this tonight...

    Hmmm... Mixed bag for me.

Visually beautiful. Interesting story. Nice tension. But it had that air of desperation trying to be far more clever than it needed to be, which almost ended up just being 'wanky' IMHO. It also meant that there were bucket loads of plot holes and handwavium.

    But overall a good ride...
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Did you see "Us"? Riddled with that shit.

My interest in seeing "Nope" is pretty darn low, and all because of how bad "Us" turned out to be (i.e. a load of old wank).

"Get Out" was seriously over-praised, but was quite good.

Yeh... Guilty... Saw both of them. Enjoyed both, but both were riddled with the same sort of 'wankyness'...
