    Alien: Romulus (film)...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTgNPCLoEnM

I'll give it a chance because Fede Alvarez has been involved in numerous films that have been worth watching, but there's a lot to make up for after the messy affair that was Alien Covenant.

I wonder where this one fits in. Is it after Covenant and before Alien (1979)? Is it somewhere else in the timeline?

And other than milking the franchise to make money, what's the point in this film? Hopefully there'll be one!

Be nice if it's a solid film for a change...
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986),[1] the story concerns a group of young space colonizers who, while scavenging a derelict space station, come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

I read that, apparently, the film is combining a 'slasher movie approach' and a 'young cast' (i.e. very early twenties) to appeal to *wait for it* modern audiences.

Also, the main character's name is fuckin' Rain. Seriously.

The shot of a bunch of squiggly wiggly chasey wasey face huggers scampering after some of the crew members looked rather silly, too.

Think it looks pretty rad. I like Fede Alvarez, so I'm interested.

I'm a fan of his Evil Dead remake as well as Don't Breathe, but he didn't half drop the ball with the most recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre (writer/producer).

I will say that the atmosphere and design of the ship look really cool, and to be fair it's only a teaser. He does certainly have solid filmmaking talent, and I do really want this movie to be good ... but initial impressions are very much split.

I wonder if they'll somehow (being that it's set between Alien and Aliens) tie "Romulus" in to Weyland-Yutani's overall interest in the xenomorph and the colonisation of LV-426. If they do, though, I'd dearly hope they don't screw up the timeline of events, or introduce awkward story aspects that then don't gel with what follows in terms of the chronological story.
