Dawn was not made in 1998 The directors cut of the 2004 "spoof" did feature one pair of breastusus (two in total) belonging to a naked blonde woman near the schoolbus, but you are probably too young to view them. Spoof ? What is with the disdain for DAWN 04 all the time ? This film kicked ass and GAR FANS know it. They should acknowledge it and not chastise it. Spoof ?

Otherwise everyone is sitting around saying it brought nothing to the genre, it was a rip off, blah blah blah ... It wasn't supposed to resemble the first one; this was known since it's announcement. The only real similiarity was Zombies + Mall + Heroine + Black Dude = Dawn 04 I found DAWN 04 to just kick major ass. Yes, it could have been deeper in character development but it is what it is. I am not sure what you mean by themes ? It's a zombie movie DAWN 04 brought what no other Dead film has ever done; a look at the action and survival moments in the genre. These are events we have often only heard about from the survivors. Come on; when Sarah walks outside and the little suburban neighborhood is in chaos and her neighbor gets ran over .... Awesome awesome awesome. I don't know. I guess I just don't get hearing fans of the UNDEAD dismiss it or chalk it up to being a 'spoof' or 'descent action film' It sits very high on my all time zombie film list (Day and Return take the top 2 spots) - In short ? I think it brought a lot to the genre whereas Romero is still recylcing the same tired ideas. Anything new he tried (The evolving zombies in Land) was just asinine and not at all true to the lore.

This thread makes me feel funny inside... Indeed, the 2004 "spoof" (nice touch) features that slapper girl who you never know the name of (it's mentioned in brief passing once I think, but only when you listen closely - clearly characterisation meant nothing to the film) - she gets railed at one point and ponces around in lingerie ... obviously it was a high class picture. Nothing says High Class like a hot blonde getting bent over a jewerly counter and being railed by some rich snot then watching her parade around in her lingerie. A+ entertainment brought to us by Zack Snyder. WTG Zack... bring on DAWN 2
