Referrals

I searched but did not find, on the user profile page, what is the "referrals" line all about? Obviously it appears to be the number of people you have referred, but how do you go about referring them?

when a new member registers, their is a option field for them to fill in saying who refered them here, if they put your name, it adds one to your referal count. dosn't really mean anything unless we decide to base some kind of future promotion on it. as for how do you refer them here, anyway you like my friend

but how do you go about referring them? Stand outside with a big sign that says, "Go to homepageofthedead.com" How else?
