    Hmmm, I'm not sure what VHS tapes you were watching, but the ones I used to get had TONS of previews and trailers at the beginning of the tape. Granted, you could fast-forward through them, but then again, if you rip a DVD properly you can make it so you can fast-forward through the previews or skip them all together just by hitting 'menu'.

    The part that sucks is, if it's a pressed store-bought DVD, most of them disable the FF or 'menu' buttons during the previews nowadays, so you're forced to watch them.

    Yet another reason to be able to rip & back up your stuff. Not that the MPAA or DCMA would agree.

    I've found that previews (trailers and such for other films) are skippable, it's warnings, and screens of texts that are the sh*ts.

    I hate sitting through that sh*te.
