    Post Resident Evil Outbreak (W.I.P.)

Let me make this clear as possible:

I HATE PAUL WS ANDERSON. THIS IS NOT BASED UPON HIS WORK. THIS IS BASED PURELY UPON THE ORIGINAL GAME. There will be NO added characters, NO new mutations, this is the game's original material put in cinema form. I hope that Resident Evil gets the proper cinema it needs in the next few years.

    RESIDENT EVIL OUTBREAK
    A Screenplay written by GhastlyJoker
Based upon a game series by CAPCOM

    Open To:

    INT UMBRELLA RESEARCH LAB B-2

William Birkin sits in a chair, examining a video. It's grainy but it is obvious, it is of a zombie. Out of his periferal, he notices four Umbrella Agents approaching him.

    Birkin

So...Mr. Spencer sent you to get my life's work?

A agent walks forward, this is Agent HUNK. The Best soldier a man could ask for.

    Agent HUNK

Mr. Birkin, our orders are to take the virus sample, if you do not comply, we are ordered to kill you.

Birkin reaches for a gun. HUNK sighs and pulls out his COLT.

SMASH CUT - INT Annette's lab

Annette Birkin hears three gun shots and rushes toward Birkin's office. She turns the corridor with a pistol in hand to see the agents walking from the office. She runs toward the lab but it's too late, Birkin has three bullets in his chest and is bleeding fast. Birkin is pale, cold and expressionless but still alive. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a sample of the G Virus and pulls a syringe from his desk. Annette grabs his arm in protest but he fills the syringe and injects it into his arm. His arms drop and his eyes go pale. Annette bows her head in sorrow, but looks at his arm to see a bulge forming in his vein. She knows this isn't the end of the road and runs away. Birkin's eye flickers open, pale, white, bloodshot. The camera rushes towards the eye.

SMASH CUT - INT Sewers of Raccoon City

Umbrella Agents are walking toward a ladder to the surface. They hear loud footsteps, Agent HUNK makes a hand motion and two Agents walk toward the noise. Just as HUNK climbs up with the samples, gunfire and screams echo throughout the sewer. A body flies at the ladder and knocks the samples over and they scatter along the floor. HUNK jumps down and examines the corpse while the other Agent
points the gun around the bend of the sewer. A clanking sound is heard, Birkin walks slowly toward the agents. The Agent fires at the beast but it does him no good. He is quickly dispatched and falls into the murky water below. HUNK is the only one left and will be the last.

    AGENT HUNK
    What the fu--

WHACK! HUNK is hit by Birkin's claw. Birkin walks away, the T-Virus samples break beneath his feet, HUNK flops into the water and is carried down water. He is still breathing...but for how long? The rats beneath the city are looking at the fluid with interest. They start drinking it.

    Cut to INT J's BAR

It's been six hours since the T-Virus leaked and not alot has happened. Inside the bar, there are a veriety of people, sitting at the bar is Bob, Mark Wilkins, they're two security guards for the Raccoon City Mall. Also at the bar and on it's black list is Kevin Ryman, a police officer. He doesn't come to drink anymore, but to flirt with the waitress Cindy Lennox. Will the bartender sighs as he sees Kevin looking at Cindy as she walks by.

    Kevin

    She's definately something isn't she?

    Will

Yeah, too bad she is quitting soon.

Kevin snaps out of his daze in shock

    Kevin

What do you mean?! What happened?

    Will

She's college bound, Kevin. She gave her two weeks notice yesterday.

Kevin is frustrated and slams his head down on the table. Will smiles and reaches beneath the table top to pull out a bottle of whiskey and hands it to Kevin.

    Will
    (Smiling)

    On the house

Kevin gives a weak smile and drinks from the bottle. Kevin turns to the television, It's a news report on apparent "riots" in Raccoon City and the RPD needs all officers to head out to the City Hall. Kevin unholsters his Colt. 45 and runs for the door. As he exits, he notices another man walking in sluggishly. Kevin is opening his cruiser doors when he notices more people, sluggish and strange as the last person.

    Kevin
    (Puzzled)

    Could these be the rioters?

Kevin pulls out the Colt and aims at the crowd as they near the bar. Suddenly he hears Will and Cindy scream, then the crowd begins to pound the bar windows and doors. Kevin rushes toward the door, kicks one of the "rioters" and runs inside, locking the door behind him. Will lies on the ground, his neck was injured and Cindy is holding a thick cloth to stop the bleeding.

    Kevin

    What happened?!

    Cindy

Some crazy guy bit him, he should be alright.

    Kevin

Okay, I think it's safe to assume these are the rioters that the news was talking about. Will, we need the keys to the upstairs. Will points toward the bar. Kevin spots them, grabs them and heads for the door, he unlocks it and rushes back.

    Kevin
    (To Mark)

Sir, can you help me block the windows?

Mark rushes over and picks up tables and sets them up infront of the window and door.

    Kevin

    Thanks, now let's go.

Bob gags, he's feeling sick and he presses his head against the bar counter and takes a deep breathe before running towards the door. Kevin and Bob go first, followed by Mark. Cindy lifts up Will.

    Cindy

Damnit Will, get your ass up!

    Will

    I'm trying...

They get up and rush through the doorway. Will pushes the cabinet behind them to block the door and heads up to the landing. The others are heading up the next flight of steps. Will stops to catch his breath by the window.

    Will

Wait guys, I need a brea--

The glass smashes and a zombie grabs ahold of him and pulls him through. Cindy looks back and screams.

    Cindy

    Will, NO!

    Kevin

    GOD DAMNIT!

Mark sighs, Kevin escorts a tearful Cindy upstairs. They go into the main room, Cindy, Kevin and Bob sit down on the couch there.

    Mark

There's no time to rest! We need to find a way out of this place!

    Kevin

We need a gameplan in order to do that!

    Mark

Well then hero cop, we've got one dead, one sick and one who is emotionally torn, I don't think there's time for a ****ing game plan!

    Kevin

We can't just get out of here, there is no way out!

Mark knows Kevin is right. The main entrance is blocked...

    Kevin

Do you know of ANY other exits Cindy?

    Cindy

Yeah, a few weeks ago, some kids from the apartment complex next door jumped to the back of the sign on the roof. Maybe we could try that. Kevin nods and looks around the room.

    Kevin
    (To Mark)

    That sound good to you?

    Mark

Anything is fine but I don't know about Bob, he's sick.

    Bob looks up at them

    Bob

    I'm just fine, I'll manage.

    Kevin

Alright, now that this has been settled, which door is it?

Cindy points to the first door on the right. Kevin walks over and jiggles the handle.

    Kevin

    Great! It's locked...

    Mark

Well genius, don't you have a gun?

Kevin glares at Mark and shoots the handle off and the door opens.

    Kevin

    Come on!

This is pages 1-4, I have only written 9 so far but I'll be updating regularly. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Well, as a fan of the game, I'd say that you hit the feel of the whole situation rather perfectly. I read through your script, and it flowed perfectly with how I played the game.
What I like the most about it is how all of the survivors are suddenly thrust into a life or death situation, and have to stay alive by finding an escape and defending themselves with whatever they can get their hands on.
You've made it work very well, and since this is script oriented, you don't need a lot of description for what goes on. Keep it up.

Thank you sir, I appreciate the kind words. I chose Outbreak because of the civilian to survivor aspect rather than going with the mansion because they're highly skilled police officers or a rookie cop becoming a hero and a woman searching for her brother because both seemed too overdone. Survival of civilians is as real as it can get when it comes to something like that and that is what drew me to the game and eventually, to this idea. I plan on updating this sometime tomorrow.

Of course, always glad to help out a fellow writer. And you're right, the survivor aspect makes the story far more real.

Running fast, Kevin, Mark, Bob and Cindy enter the stairway behind the door. As Cindy enters the stairway, she pauses and looks up to see a loose shelf, she pulls off the shelf and places it diagonally on the floor, wedging it between the doorway and the corner of the wall so nothing can follow.

    Cut - INT Booze Room

The room is large, concrete and has metal shelves with whiskey, and liquor. Most in bottles, some in crates. A alcaholic's paradise, and his certain death. Bob and Kevin stop to look at the drinks as Mark and Cindy look around. Kevin sees a bottle of whiskey from 1945.

    Kevin
    (Smiling)
Holy hell, how long has this place been around?

Cindy turns back to look at Kevin with a smile.

    Cindy

J's Bar has been around since the town was founded. Will was the last person to inherit the place.

Kevin's smile fades into a sad and grim look and drops his head.

Cut to - INT J's Bar - First Floor

The zombies break down the door with tremendous force and the remainder that were by the window push the tables over and climb over.

Cut to - INT J's Bar - Booze Room

    Kevin

Well, how do we get out of this death trap?

Cindy pauses for a moment and points at a large shutter door.

    Cindy

That's how we moved the liquor in and out of the place. It's a elevator. It's how we brought up that.

Cindy points to a forklift that is holding about 3 crates of liquor.

    Kevin

Can we take the elevator down?

    Cindy

    I think so, it's worth a shot.

Kevin walks over to the shutter door to lift up. It's locked?

    Kevin

    It's locked from the inside.

    Mark

    That's impossible, it's a shutter to a elevator.

A scratching sound is heard at the door.

    Kevin

****, what are we supposed to do now?

Bob looks at the crates set up along the wall. He sees the grate and looks at the forklift, the only obstacle since the crates it holds aren't held up high enough to crawl across the crates to the grate out of the room.

    Bob

Cindy, where are the keys to the fork lift?

    Cindy

They should be in the wine room

    Bob

That's the door next to the one to the stairs right?

Cindy nods, Bob runs to the wine room.

Cut to - INT Wine Room

Bob looks around, he sees something shiny and grasps it. It's the key alright. Bob runs out of the room.

Cut to - INT Booze Room

Mark smiles as Bob holds up the keys. Suddenly the door breaks open and a zombied Will grabs Bob and bites his arm. Bob pulls out his gun and shoots the Will zombie, the zombie's corpse closes and blocks the door. A temporary lock if you will. Mark sits down next to Bob.

    Bob

I'm done Mark, it's all over for me.

    Mark

No, that's not the end of this.

    Bob

Yes it is, Will got bit and he became that. It's going to happen to me too.

Mark bows his head, he knows Bob is right.

    Mark

    So what now Bob?

    Bob

You leave me here, I give you the keys and you go on without me.

Mark hugs his friend, Bob gives him the keys to the forklift. As Mark walks away, Bob stares at his gun and looks at his clip. Not a single bullet left.

    Bob

    Hey Mark!

    Mark turns to Bob

    Bob

I'm going to need a bullet.

Mark is saddened by such a morbid request, but he knows what will happen if he doesn't give him something to end it with. Mark pulls a bullet from his clip and tosses it to Bob. Bob grabs the bullet and inserts it into his clip and puts the clip in his gun.

    Bob

Thank you Mark, now get going.

Bob gives Mark a salute with two fingers. Mark returns the favor. Bob grabs a bottle of whiskey and takes a good swig, he closes it and sets it next to him. As Mark walks away, a gun shot is heard.

Not bad. Not bad at all. The situation has become darker and more desperate, especially with the loss of Bob. The only thing that I would recommend is giving a little bit more description of the characters' expressions.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I wanted to keep the characters in a more desperate mood so I can perhaps make a character snap or go into a break down. From the looks of it, it's Mark since he is the only one who knew Bob. Pretty soon there'll be a change of scenery.
