Xbox comes out with a child timer

im not so sure about this. most parents cant tie their shoes let alone try to download something from xbox's online network to prevent kids from being online all hours of the night. what ever happened to "turn that damn thing off and get your ass in bed!!!" ?

while i do agree they shouldnt veg out all day, they should get unlimited time during the weekends and holidays. but what if you say 'turn it off and go outside and play" and your kid gets mowed down by a truck? then what are you gonna feel like?

none is going to use that because if they stop there kid playing a console thn they will resort to following the parent round asking them questions noone else would like "why are there more than 4 kinds of things you can put in a sandwich" or "why am i itchy?"

Sounds like a bad substitute for good parenting if you ask me.

Put books in the kids rooms and take away their TVs...christ....TV/games should be a treat not a commodity.

Just a tool to help parents raise their kids, nothing wrong with it. Same as TVs that come with the ability to block certain channels on them.

My issue isn't with the function exactly, just that its easier to use this function rather than enforce strict but fair guidelines on the console's use...its one thing to black out a channel because its content, its another to program your telly to turn off when a kid is watching it too long, its delegating the responsibility of that parent saying "now enough's enough"....kinda.

I hate kids anyway, what do I know!

Well I disagree, parents cant ALWAYS be there, people have to work etc. Putting a timer on it is a good idea to make a point. I honestly don't understand why people would be against something like this. Its just 1 more tool to help parents parent better, its not a substitute at all, although I am sure it could be used as one by some people... what's the alternative to that situation? Arrest the parent and brain wash them and not put a timer on the Xbox at all? I don't understand what the big deal is. People had a similar attitude when they started making VChips for TV sets. I mean its just a tool, if you don't like it, don't use it.
