I asked this question years ago, got a response and totally forgot. Now I need it again. At the end of the original Dawn of the Dead, what is the music that kicks in when Peter decides to not shoot himself and instead make his way to the helicopter? I vaguely remember it being related with something to do with NFL Films and even remember seeing it on a highlight package of one of the older Super Bowls. Need it for this reason. I do some pro wrestling on the weekends and think it would be awesome after winning to have that theme kick in over the soundsystem. At least it would make me chuckle and I'm really concerned about my own amusement. Thanks for the help everyone!

Try Track #2 located here (http://www.dewolfe.co.uk/musicsearch/cd_tracks.php?cdnumber=HRCB%2023).

Btw, Track #1 is a huge rip-off of The Addams Family theme song, possibly to the point of infringement.

Heh, I've spent many hours digging through online music libraries, but someone else had actually posted that link here. I just saved the bookmark. ;)

Here's something that I didn't know. Romero had an original score for DAWN? Please tell me more!

Oddly enough, Action Pack has been making the rounds in The Discovery Channel and TLC's home improvement shows.

Kortick, did I read you correctly that there is a Romero written score for DOTD that was not used? This is the first I have heard of this, and I must admit that I am intrigued. Do you have any more info on this that you can share? (Where did you hear about this, do you have a link to the info or the score, is the score avaliable somewhere, etc.) I must have details and info!!!!

Yeah, I remember hearing that musical bit that plays right after Roger gives his lighter fluid line in the mall playing in the background for Monday Nite Football back in the day. Pretty trippy.

What is really weird is hearing the NOLD needle drop cuts in bad '70s Samurai films!

I've been trying to find out what track gets used after Peter says "We get everything sealed off, then we're going on a hunt." That weird Spaghetti Western standoff-type type theme. I've been searching De Wolfe but no dice (and they don't list some composers that do show up on the Trunk release, so there may have been still another source.)

Yojimbo, do you recall which samurai films use NIGHT cues? Karl Hardman had the Capitol Hi-Q discs, but that same music has been available from at least five different production libraries.

Music libraries change often. Most of the De Wolfe tracks on the Trunk Records release are not found in their online library.

Others have posted that it's Cantando by Peter Merrick, but I haven't been able to find anything to confirm this. Peter Merrick currently has only two tracks in the De Wolfe library.

I'd have to go back and look at my old tapes, but offhand I do remember quite a few of Night cuts as well as some of the Cannes' DAWN cuts being used in a Japanese T.V. samurai series called "Abarembo Shogun" (basically a weekly series from the early 1980's which portrayed a High Ranking Samurai goverment official who performs special investigations under cover in old Japan along with his crack team of specialists-- you get the picture) There are other films that I recall hearing NOLD needle drops in, however I will have to do a bit of digging to give you title info. Good excuse, really, for me to go through my old VHS copies of junk!

Answering my own freakin' question again, here's the Hudson Muslc lp that contains Peter Merrick's Cantando.

Mindbender, 1972

Hudson Music is shown as part of the DeWolfe catalog.
