Copied from another forum, sounds great!

*There are 15 multiplayer game modes in GTA IV. PSM had an opportunity to play 7 of them. The rules of each game are determined by the host.
* Multiplayer supports up to 16 players.
* Your online character is fully customizable. You can alter his race, sex, hair, clothing etc.
* The game modes featured are as follows:

1. Hangman's NOOSE
2. Car Jack City
3. Bomb da Base
4. Bomb da Base II
5. Mafia Work
6. Team Mafia Work
7. Deathmatch
8. Team Deathmatch
9. Turf War
10. Cops n Crooks
11. Race
12. GTA Race
13. Deal Breaker
14. Free Mode
15. (some other mode?)

* In Race and GTA Race, the host gets to decide which vehicles are involved, and the number of laps to be played. You can shoot and throw molotovs from the window, and even steal your rivals' car.
* In Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, the host gets to decide whether the police can intervene or not. The host also gets to decide the number of pedestrians, the amount of traffic, and the type of weapons.
* In Cops n Crooks, one team play as cops and the other play as criminals. The cops must stop the criminals from escaping. They can monitor the locations of the criminals on their GPS systems, while the criminals have no idea where the cops are.
* In Mafia Work and Team Mafia Work, you play as one of Kenny Petrovic's mafia henchmen. You must complete hits ordered by the boss (via the cellphone) before your rivals are able to do so.
* A single-player mission called "Hangman's NOOSE" features co-op. You and your friends will be able to escort a mobster, while being pursused by a SWAT team.
* The map used in multiplayer is the same map that is used for single player.

Tease your nips hellsing, you know what's comin' don'tcha ... ... but when will it come? Who knows...

...

By the way, I dig both GTA and SR ... but GTA is the daddy. Roll on GTA4 bitches ... not that I'll be playing it online, I'm Core, baby, yeah. (Don't have the right internet connection anyway I think, stuck out in the sticks you see).

i've not played saint's row yet, as i am still pretty overwhelmed by the sheer awesomeness of halo3, cod4, dead rising, skate, and re-living the joys of castlevania: sotn.

i have always loved gta games, though, and my pre-order is already placed for gta4, so i'm pretty pumped about this.:hyper:

glad to see they've incorporated a decent online experience for us.

nope, not jaded for once, just safe in the knowledge that APB is coming out and thats ACTUAL online, not this deathmatch type crap. there just minigames, fables 2 is more online than this since you can actually interact without braining each other in a "match" to a time limit.

Evidently death matches are popular, so why not provide that?

I've had GTA4 on pre-order for about a year now I think, I was all excited about it's October release, but alas...:D...still though, about 6 weeks left now innit.

but GTA isnt a franchise that goes well with a deathmatch scenario, it sholdnt really have online ,like this at least. there are games like gears of war, kameo and ,ugh, army of two (the game everyone regrets buying) were the online is a stand alone game experience not intrinsic to the selling to its target audience, even the likes of halo was pretty much more focuesed on multiplayer gameing than a so-so campaign mode by the 3rd one, its expected, gta is not expected to have it and stuff like "death match" is just out of place if you get my meanin' and i dont think it should be a selling point when you can play APB to your hearts content in a few months.

But multiplayer doesn't affect single player. Primarily it's single player, but the people wanted online play for GTA, it was given, what's the Biggy deal and Tupac about it? :p

Good point, Minion. The multiplayer could indeed turn out to be complete ****, but it would in no way degrade the singleplayer game. Besides, they added free roam for multiplayer. Even if it's just you and a few friends goofing around, it wouldn't be hard to have a lot of fun.

word. one of my buddies and i would sit and play the two-player games in san andreas for hours...the set-up was totally lame(two players have to stay within sight of one another), but it was nonetheless a great time.

online multiplayer free-roam alone will provide some good times, and i imagine the rest will be well worth checking out too.

Sounds cool to me - free roam environment - plus guns and vehicles and all sorts of carnage and stunts...sounds like fun to me.

As I remeber it the orignal 8 bit had multiplay lan and online capabilities... And I thought this was great.

The only multiplayer game mode I'd be interested in would be a 'manhunt' or 'last man standing' type game mode.

I say Hell yeah. I mean GTA in itself is a great thing and you can have plenty of hours enjoying youreself and I still do, I play san andreas now and then when the craving to bring chaos to the streets becomes to much :D my copy is pre-oredered and whoop limited edition gta reward card for game! Jk

I dont see why everyone is so against the idea really. As others have said it wont change the single player and the multiplayer could give GTA a second life even though it wont. This online feature could be a big selling point I mean COD4 would have had good sales but the online has taken off like anything and so have the sales.

GTA maybe great but killing the cops and mowing strangers down does get dull after a while but online? I dont think it will. Take COD4 for example, its a good game and has a good story to boot but you can only go against the same old bots so many times. Its still enjoyable but youre a pro at it, you play it online and theres plenty of features and hidden things you will find through the death cam.

Im looking forward to some team death match with some friends. Come on imagine it, youre buddies car crashing and bursting into flame and him scampering it. You skid to a stop as he jumps in the back and starts firing at the oncoming pigs, youre tires squeel and off you go laughing over the mics all the way. That doesnt appeal to anyone?

For anyone with a ps3 expect to see me pull up in a bmw yelling We got this man, we got this by the ass down the mic.

You make it sound so much fun! Hopefully deathmatch gametypes won't be restricted to small areas like in SR, then we might actually be able to have the sort of gang war carnage you describe there! :D

Well I remember reading somewhere that the multiplayer runs on the same maps as singleplayer so expect an awesome car chase going from the city out to the country. I just think itll be a good laugh, so many people went through all the crap to play two player on san andreas and now its here online bigger better and more explosive than ever.

wouldn't it be the sh!t if around halloween time they introduced a mulitplayer mode with zombies? and it became so popular that they kept it around, much like halo's halloween living dead playlist has? we could find a mall and then seal the doors with trucks, then drop the "we got this, man! we got this by the ass!" line.

let's start a petition for a zombie apocalypse mode in gta4!

Exactly, that's boner popping stuff right there!

I think there should also be a co-op option, so people like me who don't have/can't afford/don't have the right connection for Xbox Live, can enjoy some of that in and of itself.

But if I did have Live, no doubt I'd be there. It's another dimension of gameplay for it that can't hurt one bit.
