a new 2d/3d side scrolling platofrmer sonic game wich apparently has him fighting a "weresonic" as the bad guy, on ps3 and xbox 360, could sega have actually started to amek good games again?!?:eek:

We have no idea what console it will appear on, it's been suggested this is a Wii game as these photos were headed for the Official Nintendo Magazine, and the gameplay sections do look like a second gen Wii game.

The last Sonic game touted as 'good' (Sonic and the Secret Rings) turned out to be overrated in my books due to ackward Wiimote controls and a idiotic decision to have gamers repeat stages in the form of mini games where you collect items, destroy bots etc.

I did get both Sonic Adventures for the Gamecube years ago and also found them overrated they played smoother then the DC versions but were more glitchy and had none of the graphical improvements they were supposed to.

I've lost all faith in Sega and Sonic Team.

Looks like a true return to form for Sonic. The last effort at a next-gen game in the franchise was a complete failure, though Sonic and the Secret Rings was a step in the right direction. I'm so glad they've gone with a classic 2D style for the action levels, as it should remind us why we enjoy Sonic games in the first place. Here are some more shots. Unless the graphics take a big hit, I doubt it will be coming to Wii:

Hey, that looks kinda funky.

I remember trying out one of those 3D Sonic games a while back, it was a pain in the ass, had no idea where I was going, the camera was gash and it wasn't proper Sonic.

This looks a bit more like classic Sonic, but with a proper next-gen edge, rather than just going from 2D to 3D and going "ooh, look what we did, like"...:p

Ahhh I remember when Sonic 3 came out, got it for my birthday, £45 it was, bloody nora...still, fun times...fun times. :)
