how fitting of a DVD cover is this?

edit: bassman has informed me that this image is probably the DVD cover not a poster.

I'm pretty sure that's the dvd cover, man. The image has been floating around for awhile, and I'm pretty sure i've heard that it's the DVD cover....

Don't take my word for it alone. I'm not 100% sure it's the DVD. Just what I heard.
Did anyone here actually pay for the dvd and can let us know if this is it, or did everyone just acquire it?;)

i qualified it in my edit with the word probably. either way it is a dreadful design.
personally, i, ahem, acquired it.:shifty:
well i just looked at amazon and this is, indeed, the dvd cover. my bad for originally assuming it was a poster.

yeah, i'll probably catch it on cable if it ever comes on, but i highly doubt i'll shell out any of my hard-earned bucks to watch it, as some royalties would end up in the hands of those responsible for this atrocity.
i thought about putting "spook city, usa", "devil's whorehouse" "london dungeon", or "violent world" down as my location, but i like the sound of "where eagles dare".
man, the misfits kick so much a$$.

Why thank you Moon Knight. :)
I recommend a bitch list for surviving a truly terrible movie, which doing so justifies all your bitching, rather than complaining about something without seeing it.
Instead, see it, but make a comprehensive bitch list. :D
I might do one for Zombie Nosh (Flesheater), man alive that movie was stupid.

nope it sure didn't. it was sheer and utter name rape from beginning to end.
the arguement that if this wasn't called "day of the dead" we'd all be more kind to it, falls on deaf ears as far as i am concerned. this movie simply blows donkey dongs on a number of levels and a name change wouldn't make me detest it any less.

Ghey08 by any other name is just as sh*te.
Plain and simply, it's flat out awful.

...especially when compared with 'Day of the Dead 2'. I still can't believe the same people made this one.
Yes, I agree that they name raped the title and it SHOULD have been called something else and they are trying to make money off of the title, but when you put this movie up against other $hitfest zombie movies out there, it was actually quite entertaining.
I mean really guys, what would it take, for no one else to make a zombie movie and only our 'Lord and Savior of the zombie genre', George Romero, to do so? Isn't that kind of selfish and one-sided?
It had great pacing, great effects and wonderful gore. The story was decent as well, at least it didn't involve a military hospital and some damn magic vial of pixel dust!
As for the dvd cover, that literally blew chunks and I don't see how that would make anyone want to rent it.
And hello... Nick Cannon was the comedic relief, he had some of the best f**king lines in the whole movie!
Geez....!

14-Apr-2008, 02:04 PM
well i completely disagree dawg. the movie sucked - period. gore and action aside, it sucked.
nick cannon comedy relief? i saw nothing funny whatsoever in that idiot's character. best lines in the movie? i wasn't aware that there were any good lines in the film at all.
why must you fall back on this inane banter about a "lord and saviour?" that is simply untrue (at least in my case). lots of other people have made good/decent zombie movies, not just romero and many have been critical of romero's works.

In regards to those who think of Romero as the Alpha and Omega of zombie flicks, I didn't mean 'everyone' does and I know that many have complained about his work, especially the newer dead films he has made.
But... there are many who do praise him as if nothing else matters. I simplify meant that it seems that everything seems to be $hit to most people, especially here. Tell me what was wrong with this film and I may agree with you a lot more than you may think. If you are merely stating it sucks because it was made by Taurus Entertainment and used the name, 'Day of the Dead', that would be a poor argument in my opinion.
Yes, I love the man, Romero and his work. He does great work, great storytelling all around, even the newer ones. I did like the originals better, but he is still the greatest, but on the other hand I like other people's works as well, regardless if it was based off of his.
I liked 'Day of the Dead' the remake, but not as much as the 'Dawn of the Dead' remake. I love the originals even better, ten-fold.
If you want to see true $hit zombie films, there are many out there.
It boils down to personal preference really.

I believe he is referring to Day of the Dead 2: Contagium. Some vial in a thermus opened and alot of "virus" particles are seen flying through the air in such a way that they might as well be pixies from Peter Pan. They glow as I recall. Alot of strange stuff in that movie for sure. Lots of name rape going on.

Thank you. If I hadn't known the name of the movie, I may have accidentally got the dvd and watched it. You may have saved my life.
For some reason, I've never encountered it anywhere. I guess the distribution on that movie isn't all that widespread.

I took a break to watch this pile. I knew when I saw the OVERSIZED military rank and the crappy military acting..I was going to waste precious moments in my life. I will say that it is a zombie movie and a crappy zombie flick is better than no zombie flick.

I'll either be stoned or banned after this
I watched DAy last night, expecting the worst and actually was left entertained at the end of the day. It wasn't as horrible as I'd thought it would be; better than the RETURN sequels 4 and 5 ... better than the HOUSE films, better than RE2 ...
Would I own it ? No.
Will I see it again ? Maybe, if it shows up on SciFi Channel.
Nothing fresh original about it, didn't need an explanation on why it was happening, didn't care for the new Vegan Bub subplotline ..
But
I was entertained and thought it worthy a Blockbuster rental ona Monday night,
The zombies ran; like spastic ran; creepy.
I was impressed with the atmosphere of them actually having zombies in it; in the streets, in the hospital. Much better than LAND IMO where there was no zombies (exagerrating).
The cast was 'Bleh'. Suvari went from can't ****ing act at all to some scenes where she was competent, Ving was Ving and having him killed off quick was fun, the two young kids (The hot chick and brother) were good competent enough for the subject matter.
I thought it somewhat nice to have some production value; moving from the woods, to the hospital, th=o the street, to the bunker, to the secret science lab and to the radio station; I thought the mutilple locations served it well.
I enjoyed many of the zombie scenes where they would get hit by cars and then get up, or they would crash through windows like RAGE style.
The gore was acceptable if even it looked like I did the FX myself
-
Overall ?
I say rent it.
In a time when most zombie films are pure crap; this one was like a first rate SCIFI Channel special.
-
IMO :stunned:

I thought RE2 was far better then this steaming pile. :D
After watching it, I have a new found respect for Land and even Diary's acting. I just couldn't accept 95% of what happened in the movie. I mean, zombies eating then hiding people? IMO the Minor and the dip**** screenwriter had no clue...at all. A friend of mine and I talked about it and we couldn't comprehend what the filmmakers were thinking. You can't be proud of a movie like day 08. So I had to hear what they had to say about it, i watched about 30 mins of commentary and stopped before my eyes got perma stuck in the rolls eyes position.
Out of 10 stars I'd give it 2.
Oh yeah, that "cool", 100% random, fake film grain effect was created by baking a segment of film in the oven.
I'd tell people interested in making movies to watch it and listen to the commentary so you know how a **** movie looks like and the thinking behind it. Zombie genre of course.

I didn't mind the zombies being unorthdox; reminded me of the Planet Terror ones a bit .
