Capn - now is that on it's own, or as a whole DVD?

I just wanna see the documentary, personally. I've already got it on DVD twice, as well as a copy on VHS. I don't need yet another copy. :p

That's way too kind of a way to put it. The 30th was an abomination!

It's being released as part of the US "pants" edition. See here (http://forum.homepageofthedead.com/showthread.php?t=10322).

Yeah, same here. :(

Not too long ago I bought the Italian 40th Anniversary Edition (which is superior to all) and I have bought numerous copies before that. I don't see why I should have to buy this one personally. Other than the documentary, there's nothing else that I want.

Here you go, MZ. Not the best of covers but this two-discer from Millenium Storm is a treat. It's got a cool map of Pittsburgh and has the 'Fan Of The Dead' documentary where some kid goes on a pilgrimage to all the locations. Loads more extras too.

It's a fitting description, and if the shoes... uh, pants fit, then one must be forced to wear them. :D

You got 'em mixed up!

This Italian 2-disc release from Millennium Storm has the Fan of the Dead documentary:

This Italian 2-disc release from Mondo includes most of the USA Millennium Edition extras, the Reflections of the Dead documentary (unreleased in the USA), a separate CD containing the music soundtrack, Russo's OOP filmbook in PDF format, and more:

Look at it this way: the documentary DVD comes with NIGHT as an extra. If you haven't already got NIGHT, you're in luck, and if you do, no big deal, you still get the documentary.

Currently owned versions of Night:

Double bill (Colour and B/W)
Millenium Edition
(Pants) Tin box
Italian two disc job

And now I'm supposed to buy another that's only got a documentary extras-wise (I already got the film, the commentaries, the Duane Jones interview, the trailers, etc). What a f**king con!

You actually bought and kept the tin edition? As in the Region 2 Tin Edition with the kid zombie on the front?

I bought it, found out it was cut by 4 minutes, returned that bitch post haste! :p

I kept it because it was a different version. Plus I didn't have any of the extras at the time. If I got rid of it now, I'd only get a couple of nuggets so I might as well hang on to the little turd.

So when the Weinstein release comes out, you will have two "pants" editions in your collection. :D

The "Millennium Storm" Italian release is actually close to being "pants" as well if not for the Fan of the Dead extra disc, and that version ain't even in English.

You really need to get the Mondo Italian release, as well, because it has the best quality, extras and packaging. I thought this is the edition you were talking about when you mentioned the "40th anniversary Italian" DVD:

This Italian 2-disc release from Mondo includes most of the USA Millennium Edition extras, the Reflections of the Dead documentary (unreleased in the USA), a separate CD containing the music soundtrack, Russo's OOP filmbook in PDF format, and more:

You're not supposed to buy anything that you don't won't to. And nobody twisted your arm and forced you to run around and buy every other version ever released so stop carrying on like a big fat baby.

"Wah! Wah!"

Shut up.

is there really a point to another annivesary documentary?, the film itself hasnt changed, so what new stuff is being brought to light?

i'd be interested in knowing that too. i haven't gotten the millenium edition so i am wondering, should i get it or get this 40th anniversary version? getting them both isn't really something i am going to consider. it is a one or the other situation.

I'd say Millenium cos it will probably be cheaper mate.

I think the Millenium would be the way to go. I got it for about 10 bucks a long time ago, so it should be really cheap now.

I really don't see the point of a new documentary, either. It's all been covered in the past. And aren't they promoting this 40th anniversary dvd as being endorsed by Romero himself? The Millenium edition was endorsed by him as well......wasn't it? The only reason I see this 40th Anniversary being worth a purchase is if the remastered picture is brilliant. But then I would still probably just stay with my Millenium Edition.:D

A simple strategy if you haven't bought the Millennium edition yet: wait until the 40th Anniversary R1 is released so the new transfer can be compared, and then you may purchase accordingly.

The new documentary will contain the last interview/commentary by the late Karl Hardman. That alone is enough reason to buy it.

well i just made a call- a good friend of mine is the general manager at one of the half price stores in cincinnati and i've asked him to keep an eye out for a copy of the millenium edition. he says they come through reasonably often.

so with any luck, i'll get my hands on one of these sooner rather than later.
