View Full Version : Now, can you imagine if a claim of this sort of nature was made about Allah?

We don't have to imagine. All we need to do is look at:

1. The fatwa against Salman Rushdie. A 1989 bomb meant for him fortunately exploded prematurely in London, killing only the terrorist trying to use it.

2. The murder of Theo van Gogh.

3. The reaction to the Danish cartoons.

Conclusion: Verhoeven's days would likely be numbered.

If it was anything to do with Islam, the BBC would damn sure be steering clear of it.

Apparently the BBC have a total fear of anything that could be conceived in any way (stoned or sober) to be even remotely offensive to Islam.

I can't remember who it was now, but someone who works at the BBC - one of the creative talent - said they couldn't even use that Mohammed and the mountain phrase (can't remember how it goes right now)...

Anyway ... geez, the sheer amount of panty bunching that would have gone on had it not been about The JC himself.

Bah ... it's all loony tunes to me, I don't "do" religion. :D

I love Paul Verhoeven's movies (Turkish Delight, Flesh And Blood and Spetters to name three) but I think this is a very bad idea.

Yeah, everyone knows Muslims are sensitive to blasphemy and the media panders to it, so what's your point?

If it's a researched account and not just an amateur historian's crass attempt at garnering publicity, then fair enough. But to be honest I don't see how the director of Robocop could have stumbled upon something that has remained undetected by the theologians of the world for the past 2000 years.

But...who knows
