Just watching channel four news for the champion of news, John snow and it seems Bird flu has been confirmed in a area near london someone will post a article or I will after I finish this. Eitherway its the h7 strain which can transmit to humans apparently and a few people have been infected, a quarentine zone has been set up around the farm and the culling has began. So we beat it over and over and it pops up again and again. Is it just media scare tactics or do you think there is actually something to be worried about? Is it time to break out my biosuit guys?

this sounds relatively serious. the outbreak was at a big poultry plant in holton, suffolk and has killed 2,600 birds so far. get this - another 159,000 birds are going to gassed to death in an attempt to stop this. there is also a 6 mile exclusion zone around this place.

Yes, it's dangerous - to birds. But if you're a healthy human, then you'll survive.

Flu becomes most dangerous when a subject (bird, mammal, or human) is exposed to more than one strain at the same time. The two different virus will intermingle exchanging genetic information producing a new variant.

Bloody Hell 159,000 birds! I think I heard some of the workers at the plant had died? Could just be in hospital though cant quite remember. Hoping for hospital.
Edit: They are just being offered antiviral drugs nobody was taken ill and all is well, well except for the birds being slaughtered. The word Quarentine make me a lil edgy what can I say?

i meant serious as in the amount of birds affected and the fact that they will have to be destroyed. it has to be done so that it doesn't spread to other poultry farms/processing plants.

I understand that scipio but still Bird Flu keeps popping up over and over. Just something to keep an eye on, itll be fine as always. Still its a big culling in a supposed to be safe plant although Bernard Matthews has been in crap like this before. Im amazed they still sell his meat after everything..
