So, I am curious as to which thrill or mild rides you enjoy the most. Got any faves? Name them and which park they reside at, if you can provide the RCDB Link (Rollercoaster Database www.rcdb.com)

My faves include Wood Coasters and Hyper Coasters

Woodie faves:

The Phoenix - Knoebels Amusement Resrt Elysburg, PA
http://rcdb.com/id143.htm Consistently rated in the top 10 wooden coaster of all time.

Boulder Dash ; Lake Compounce Bristol, CT
http://rcdb.com/ig602.htm - Consistently consider in the top 3 wooden coasters of all time. Was #1 for four years straight. Coaster style: Terrain, built entirely on the side of a mountain.

Steel:

Steel Force - Dorney Park
http://rcdb.com/id276.htm Great steel out and back looper.

Millennium Force - Cedar Point
http://rcdb.com/id594.htm - 320 ft of sheer terror.

Favorite conventional ride....

The Tilt-A-Hurler (Tilt-A-Whirl)

The only amusement park around here is Six Flags Over Georgia. I've been going there my entire life. Here's a few favorites...

The Mind Bender (http://www.rcdb.com/id37.htm)
(this one's made to look like a Riddler ride because it's in the Gotham City section of the park)

The Georgia Scorcher (http://www.rcdb.com/id556.htm)

The Batman (http://www.rcdb.com/id421.htm)
(This is the one that decapitated that kid a few weeks back.)

Goliath (http://www.rcdb.com/id3290.htm)
I haven't been to the park in a few years, but this is a new coaster they have. I'm sure there's much better out there, but when I pass by Six Flags on the interstate everyday, this thing looks MASSIVE.

Goliath looks similar to the one at Six Flags New Jersey. That does look like a sick, but extremely fun ride. I like Steel coasters, but I love Woodies more.

Another great coaster, is Batman - The Dark Knight at Six Flags New England
http://rcdb.com/id1549.htm - Ride was installed around 2000 or 2002

I enjoy wooden coasters, but the ones here at six flags are too rough on my back. I get off the wooden coasters with pains in my back....no lie.

Here's one I forgot. Superman (http://rcdb.com/id1568.htm). A "flying" coaster. Pretty cool...

My all-time favorite coaster is Nitro, at Six Flags Great Adventure (NJ). http://www.rcdb.com/id1106.htm I rode it 10 times in one day, once.

We also have the worlds tallest and fastest coast, Kingda Ka. Holy sh1t is that coast INSANE! http://www.rcdb.com/id2832.htm

I have the same problem Bass. We are getting old. My daughter loves the Hurler ( http://www.rcdb.com/id85.htm ) here at Carowinds, but that thing kills my back and neck every time!!

The Borg is a pretty good one here, as well as Top Gun. (they have changed the names for both since Carowinds is no longer Paramount owned.)

Well this sounds neat. . .

ORLANDO, FL (March 19, 2008) – Adrenaline pumping and music thumping, you find yourself heading straight toward the sky. Suddenly, you are doing 65 mph, 17 stories over Universal Studios. Gasping with excitement, you rock out to a song you picked before strapping in. And, it's all on video. Once the adventure is over, you edit the video to send to your friends.

This is true high-tech, customizable, multi-sensory entertainment. Scheduled to open in spring 2009, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will stake its claim as the most technologically advanced roller coaster in the world. The Universal Creative team is combining audio and special effects engineering, sophisticated on- and off-board video and one-of-a-kind guest personalization to create a roller coaster experience unlike any other.

"This is the perfect intersection of the digital age and theme park entertainment," said Mark Woodbury, President of Creative for Universal Parks & Resorts. "Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit blends roller coaster intensity and guest interaction in a way where no two experiences will be the same."

Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit touts six near-miss moments and first-ever thrills including a record-breaking loop. Ride vehicles feature the brightest and most innovative color changing LEDs in the world. High-energy visual displays fill the queue line. With up to four ride vehicles on the tracks at any given time, and with concert lighting and special effects mixed in, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will be a true high-intensity, multi-sensory experience that is unmatched.

Guests can customize their ride experience by choosing what song will play while they're on the roller coaster. LED boards in the queue lines will display song options from five genres (classic rock, rap, country, pop and soundtracks). Once on-board, guests can choose their song or let the coaster's digital sound system choose for them. When the ride is over, guests will be able to customize footage from their experience and compile it into a take-home music video.

Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will be located near the Jimmy Neutron attraction traveling the southern perimeter of the Universal Studios theme park, over to the CityWalk lagoon and back.

Guess I am like an old lady compared to you daredevils, but I like the Haunted Mansion at Disney. OK, not as sexy as your picks, but I still like it!

EDIT: Forgot to mention Space Mountain. Damn I am feeling old today!

No dude, not old. . .young at heart.

I LOVE Disney World. I grew up near Orlando so we used to go pretty often. The family still tries to make it there every other year or so. It's . . .well. . . magical. . .and I'm not ashamed to say it. I love Disney.

I assume you are talking about DisneyLand though. I've never been there. . but I will someday though. I gotta ya know?

people here rave over cedar point.............they dont know anything about six flags valencia which makes them suck. they'd rather go to a place with no room for rides and built on an island rather than go somewhere with stunt shows and better rides.

Cedar Point is supposed to have some of the best Roller Coasters in the world.

Matter of fact. . looking at the database there.. . Cedar point has at least one or 2 coasters in the top 10 of all 4 categories. I'd like to go there

Yeah, DisneyLand here in California. My wife and I received an annual pass for our anniversary so we've been popping in occasionally and it still rules nearly as much as when I was a kid (thought the preponderance of High School Musical and Hannah Montana merchandise is fairly annoying)

Clang, if you make your way out here, we will escort you and yours to the Magical Kingdom-Anaheim as well as give you a proper tour of Los Angeles. I think Disneyworld has us pretty much beat, but Disneyland-Anaheim is the OG so there is some nice nostalgic value there!

Yeah, Ace, Magic Mountain rules! Kind of like Disneyland, but with more gang fights!

We dont have as many huge theme parks as you guys over the pond, but there are a few which are decent!Heres my pick of favourite rides from over here..
First off the ones at alton towers..
http://www.slowlane.net/travel/photos/Manchester-and-surrounds/Oblivion_ride_at_Alton_Towers.sized.jpg
That one is "oblivion" which is a vertical drop coaster into a deep pitch black hole, the drop is awesome but its a fairly short ride!
http://family-holiday.mirandasbeach.com/Altontowers.jpg

"nemesis" which is an awesomely vicious coaster, fast with tight loops & stomach tightening drops, its pretty damned intense!

http://www.themeparks-uk.com/files/official_rita_1.jpg

"rita queen of speed" (**** name) which launches you from 0-100 in 2.5 seconds, then throws you round all sorts of twists & turns at the same speed, quality coaster!

http://picnic.ciao.com/uk/1434740.jpg

"air" which once your strapped in tilts the seats forward so its like your flying,it loops, barrel rolls & goes round sharp bends with huge rocks literally a couple of feet under you,its a very good ride even though its slightly slower than others

Then theres flamingo land with this little beaut!
http://www.ridemad.com/articles/flamingo/DSCN2098.jpg

"velocity" it does exactly the same as the rita ride at alton towers with the extremely fast acceleration, except your sat on a motorbike with no carriage around you!

I am a fan of the Millenium Force at Cedar Point, I was finally able to ride it for the first time this year and it is fantastic. I wanted to ride the Maverick, but as usual at Cedar Point, the new rides are down quite a bit the first couple years and it was down on my only visit this year, but next year that ride will be mine.

I also went to Michigan's Adventure this year. It only has a few coasters, but it's water park is amazing and included with paid admission to the park. Cedar Point bought them a few years ago, so they are building it up and I have a feeling that within the next 10-15 years it will be a much larger attraction for Western Michigan than it is now. The Thunderhawk is new this year and it is pretty fun, but a very short ride. If any of you have a chance to go I would recommend it for the water park alone.

As lame as it may sound, I also like Space Mountain lol

Dude, that would indeed be awesome. I would love to see Disneyland, if only to compare and contrast what I grew up with. You have no idea what a Disneyphile I am. :shifty:

:lol::lol:

i dont see how all those gangs drive that far to fight and shoot rather than go to "didneyland" and do it. i guess everyones a kid at heart.

i've been in the car with my dad before driving to magic mountain to get my brothers when this stuff jumped off before :(
