Just heard this, dug it a lot.

One of the things that caught my attention was somehting that Mike Christopher "Hare Krishna zombie" said in relation to trying to track down "plaid zombie" his former bandmate. Tangentially, he mentioned that Joe Shelby attempted to get in touch with "plaid zombie" with no luck. What was interesting to me was that he referred to Joe Shelby as "Martinez" from the rooftop of the housing project sequence.

I know that there had been a debate waged not too long ago about whether or not Ampalas was "Martinez" in that scene. Perhaps someone in the know can clarify for me who exactly Joe Shelby was in the rooftop scene. Not that this will clear up the "who is Martinez?" question, but I am now curious as to who Shelby is and what he did in the scene since his name as associated with DOTD is not familiar to me at all.

I'm not too sure about shelby. But i do know that in the ultimate edition film commentary with GAR and Savini they clearly state that the guy who plays martinez in john amplas.

What's disturbing to me is that savini says "yeah" he plays the puerto rican, what's his name rodriguez or something"? Then GAR proceeds to ice the cake with the statement " I don't know, does he even have a name"? Classic stuff.

Shelby is the first guy to come out of the door on the rooftop. I think Amplas is Martinez. If Martinez is the leader, why in the hell would he run out first? He'd send a dedicated minion out first.

I'd recommend looking through their show archive. Its a goldmine for horror generally and loads of Dead related interviews.
Even though their presentation is quite goofy, the interviews are very very good.
