Makes no sense to me why Gibson would act in a new Lethal Weapon movie, instead of doing Mad Max: Fury Road.

I figured Mel Gibson would want to make Passion of the Christ 2, like on Family Guy, before another Lethal Weapon?

Someone asked him if he wanted to make a lethal weapon and Mel just assumed they had meant Zyklon B :shifty:

Shane Black may have only handed in a detailed treatment to Joel Silver and that they are taking two old scripts and mashing them together to make LETHAL WEAPON 5

Shane Black - yay.

Two old scripts mashed together in addition - boo.

Potential to be PG-13? - f*ck off.

The whole "riding off into the sunset, one last case" thing, ugh ... it's a bit "done before" don't you think?

Plus, I don't think I wanna see those guys all stiff-in-the-joints and creaking around, and listening to Glover's badly fitting new teeth "sssshhhhush" his way through his dialogue, and seeing Gibson running around putting on the "crazy" schtick to try and convince people he's only crazy in the movies, and not in real life...hmmm. :rockbrow:

Lethal Weapon 4 was ultimately only average, and it was best leaving it there. I mean, when you think about it, only 1 and 2 were properly good, and then 3 was decent and generally fun, but a bit ... lacking ... and then 4 was generally enjoyable, but pretty average for a Lethal Weapon flick, and then it was over and that should have been the end of it.

I still recon, Gibson should have been killed by Jet Lee at the end of the last film, and then Glover goes crazy ape-**** mental mad and kills Jet Lee, thus it ends with Glover becomes the 'Lethal Weapon' instead of Gibson...

There shouldn't have been the possibility for this 5th film :(

Nah, I think that would have been too much, killing off a much-loved character who you've followed for four movies ... perhaps a mistaken killing would have worked better, but not a full on Riggs death.

Anyway, Gibson pretty much killed Riggs when he started blaming the Jews, so...

Damn. I guess I may be the only one here that's okay with this.

I've liked all the LW films. The original is the best, but each sequel has been funny and at the very least entertaining. I enjoy them all...so I'll shoot for another.

Although, I do think the ending to 4 was perfect to wrap up the series. Obviously they meant this to be the "closing of the book"....so wtf?

This is not going to be over until every 60+ year old star from back in the day makes a sequel of a dormant franchise. I guess they're going through their bucket lists.

It's a very odd trend we're seeing isn't it...

We'll have Shatner back in a TJ Hooker film soon!

maybe but they'd need a girdle with the circumference of a football stadium along with the seven dwarves to get him back into that uniform.

It wouldn't surprise me if they made a film of CHiPs given the current remake fad. Ethan Hawke and John Leguizamo - I'd definitely break the director's nose for that! :D

I'm surprised they haven't done a CHiPs film yet, although ... Dukes of Hazzard ... that was sh*t-gash right there, so maybe not eh?

I'd watch LW5, but unless they really have their mojo working, I just don't see the point.

Now - Rambo - there was a purpose to that, and it worked really well and was the best Rambo since First Blood, meanwhile, LW4 closed the damn book during the long-arse credit montage thing. :D

This isn't the Askewniverse, Richard Donner didn't sneakily shaft in a few unused pages at the end like Kevin Smith did, "just in case" ... but then again, Clerks 2 was f*ckin' sweet, so that's different.

Also, Chips didn't really have an ongoing story line. So as long as the dude is named ponch the rest is really a blank slate.

Damn you Darth Los! Damn you to hell!!!

No ongoing story line? Two brave Highway Patrolmen in their daily struggle to bring law, order and big cheasy grins to Central Los Angeles?

That was a good show. But like was stated earlier, it's probably aged badly as most things we have fond childhood memories of. Kinda like the first porn tape i say saw. I suspect those floppy 80's breasts and bush wouldn't play very well today.....:hurl:

Oh it has, considering CHiPs was made under the Disco/T&A mentality of TV back in the 70s. Shows like that still make for goofy fun though.

Apparently it's almost a go. Shane Black is back? AWESOME.

The article mentions that Black may also direct.....but why not Richard Donner? Donner has done the others and apparently likes them, so why wouldn't he come back? I do have to say though....if anyone could take over Donner's directing chair, it is Shane Black. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a perfect example.

So Shane Black writing and possibly directing if Donner doesn't return? Awesome news, imo.

In other Shane Black news: "See....because of the echo"

Gibson is trying to be popular again, after he made those *ahem*
remarks...But give it a rest. 4 of those LW movies are enough,
I couldn't even stomach 2,3 and passed out on 4.

Next we'll be seeing Jaws5 the spawing on the Big Screen
next summer
