View Full Version : What do you think are some of Arnolds best films?

DjfunkmasterG

I ask this question because tonight on Stars ACTIOn they were playing Commando, and although it is filled with Cheesy one liners, and a way over the top story, this was one of Arnolds better films, especially considering the garbage he has put out recently. So what do you consider some of his best films (excluding T1 or T2.)

I think The Terminator is his best film.

total recall is genius....awesome movie...

"Hi, I'm Johnny Cab, where would you like to go?"
"****, ****!!"
"i'm not familiar with that address..."

awesome awesome awesome.

Predator is next, not too much speaking from Arnie.

Saw Raw Deal once years ago and hated it....Commando is OK but Rae Dawn Chong is annoying....funny seeing a young Alyssa Milano playing his daughter!!

I'd say Terminator but since I can't...

Predator is a great film.

Commando is still watchable, back in the day I'd have said it was his best. My favorite line from that film is when some lowly petty officer says to Bennett "Cutting a little girls throat is like a warm knife to butter" and Bennett replies "Put the knife away... and shut your mouth" :)

Total Recall is a great film that was made a few years too early, effects wise.

Honestly, from Terminator to True Lies, the guy was on a roll that'd make Tom Hanks jealous.

ahh True Lies was cool too...

"what happened to Sully?"

"I let him go..."

Predator, total recall,Commando, conan,Raw deal was ok,Eraser was watchable,& true lies although crap and overblown still had a typical arnold rampage on it with lots of guns & breaking about a dozen necks

Commando was one of those 80's style action films that ya just dont get anymore, muscles, loopy bad guys,no real politics or deep meanings, just a man on a mission taking on an entire army single handed & a showdown with the "end boss"!oh yeah & guns that hold 50,000 rounds in a small banana clip!everytime i go paintballing & im putting my gear on before the game, this scene goes through my head

Predator. That movie is awesome. Not just for it's day...it is still great fun and--as the old joke goes--I still think Carl Weathers has a political office with his name on it.

Commando is awesome...cheesy...fun. Conan the Barbarian, despite not being true to the source material in some respects, was still pretty great. Running man, for so early on in the 80s, was good old fashion fun. Total Recall I never warmed to, despite a pretty good cast.

Conan the Barbarian was the coolest movie he was ever in. Terminator's good, but not as good as Conan.

Twins was one of his best, too, though it wasn't all him. And End of Days should make the list.

I thought the rest of his movies were pretty much crap.

I really liked The 6th Day now that people mention it. Good film! I liked the issue of it. It's pretty political, actually.

Predator is my overall favorite!

I like Kindtergarden Cop for its one liners.

Jingle All The Way is fun to watch during the holidays. What other film can you watch Arnold vs. Phil Hartman??

Total Recall is a classic all the way around, for action, violence, memorable villains, one liners...everything.

As I stated excluding the Terminator films my faves are:

True Lies
Commando  Love this film, even with all its cheese
Predator  This is just a kick ass action film with Aliens.
Twins
Last Action Hero (rubber baby buggy bumpers )

Never was a huge fan of Total Recall, In fact the only Paul Verhoven film thats worth a damn is RoboCop

I thought I read a comment where some one said True Lies sucked?

People need to realize True Lies is a comedy, James Cameron even said it was a spy spoof. I think it was a cool flick with some great action and funny lines.

Commando, see above but replace hacking with shooting

Predator is a no brainer. I'd also have to say terminator 2 as well. Aside from it being a kickass movie it also changed the game and what we came to expect that an action movie should be. Also, much like the matrix, it showed us things that we hadn't seen previously, and spawned countless copycats. And as we all know imitation is perhaps the greatest form of flattery.

Been noticing that too, but you can't expect much. There is a thread about the 1 zombie weapon you'd use in a zombie Apocalypse and people are shooting off christmas lists of small arms and heavy weapons ;) But who are we? Forum police? Well in LAST ACTION HERO, Stallone played the Terminator, so in the terms of that Universe could you give us a list of Arnold films without T1, T2, or T3?

Commando rules, the trailer is possibly the greatest thing ever. EVER.

Arnie's best movie was probably Terminator 2, but other ones I liked were

Total recall
Conan 1 & 2
Red Heat
Raw Deal
True Lies
Predator

Also the sixth day is well worth checking out, it has a similar feel to total recall, and some classic arnie one liners.

Collateral Damage also feels like it could have been made in arnies 80s heyday, the plot centres around arnold (a fireman called john or something in this one), who's family is killed by colombian terrorists, so naturally, he goes to colombia & kills everyone (everyone) in the aid of tracking down a terrorist mastermind known as "the wolf". With hilarious consequences!

I mean, what more do you want from a film

Mike70

Hercules in New York was funny. Remember when he fought the bear? If I ever run into him in person I am going to say,"Hey, you look familar. I seen you on this movie. What was it called? Oh yeah. You're that guy off of Hercules in New York." *L* I wonder what he would say. Anyone see The Villian? He also made a cameo appearance on the movie, Scavenger Hunt. He played a gym trainer and one of the characters had to find a medicine ball. And Arnold nearly kills him by putting him through workouts. *L*
