Not too long ago there was a lively discussion about the necessity or lack thereof for guns in society.

The following news story is an example of a situation where an armed citizen, in this case an elderly woman living near Pittsburgh, PA, defended her home from a robber. She even made the robber, a 17 year old miscreant, call the police for her while she held him at gunpoint.

Good for her! The burglar is lucky she had the presence of mind and restraint not to shoot him outright.

She is one impressive grandma! I want to shake her hand and buy her a drink!

Agreed, brother Publius. Had she been someone else, the burglar may not have had the privilege of living another day.

Awesome, if she was in another country in like England for example she probably would have been killed or beaten.

I did wonder what would have happened to the poor old lady had she not been armed. Unfortuantely, as you pointed out, she may likely have been beaten and/or killed.

I am glad my grandma is armed and knows how to defend herself!

I must have missed that post, Ace. Los Angeles can get pretty gnarly at times, so I am glad your grandma knows how to take care of problems like this.

sometime around the first of the year. she was loading her gun as the guy was trying to crawl in the window. a barking dog saved his life.

That was the first thing I thought of when I read the original post. My grandma has TOO MANY guns. She reminds of the army dude in Tremors....
