I am curious considering it is a remake of the film Rec, which is a quasi zombie film. So, are any of you dead heads going to go check it out?

I'll probably stick around after making a concession delivery and see it, this is our slow season in the concession business...alot of time to see movies.

I've seen the ad for it,and it looks like it might be good.So I'll probably check this out when it's released.

I plan on going to check it out, hopefully it does not disappoint.

Looks essentially like a shot-for-shot remake of the original (which I loved) so I'll definitely check it out. At first glance it looks to me as if they even used the same sets for filming.

I hope I can get some of my friends to check it out! If not, there's always the GF.

I am hoping it does well financially because it only helps get more zombie movies made.

I haven't seen the original, but the trailers and tv spots for this one make it look like yet another Ring, Grudge, Eye, etc, etc.:dead:

Hopefully I'm wrong. But I'll still probably end up waiting for DVD/TV.

I'll check it out, but my only bitch about it is the fact it spoils the ending. Or are they using a diffrent ending compared to Rec?

Yeah, but Rec has been out for a while. *L* And the ending has been already analyzed on here.

I have not seen the original and would really like to before I see an americanized remake, if possible, since as it has been pointed out these Americanized versions (as in the case of Ring) tend to be inferior to the original.

Likely, I will end up catching this during it's theater release. I like to support zombie films and give them a bump in boxoffice take since, like DJ pointed out, this makes it more likely that more zombie films will be made

I bet my bottom dollar that is Quarantine goes well it will only speed things up for me to get my big budget remake of Deadlands 1 done.

Y'know...it's weird. I've seen the original & it is awesome, but for some reason the promo's for the remake just don't reach out & grab me. They leave me feeling *meh*.

One thing I noticed in the promo is a quick flash of a newspaper headline that had something to do w/ a religious cult? So I suspect some (perhaps minor) plot tampering has been done (to make it more P.C. no doubt.):shifty:

Nah Bass. . . I't nothing like the Grudge or the Ring. Not really a supernatural "ghosty" movie. REC is just plain awesome. You really should check it out. I had to . . ummmm. . . search around to find it. But it's great man.

I knida feel the same way, but I think it's just because it looks EXACTLY the same as the original. Kinda makes me afraid that if I go see it, I'll be kinda jaded on the upcoming scares.

What is "Rec"? I've tried searching for the analysis you mention, but the forums don't let you search for words that short.

Quarantine is the remake of Rec.

I gathered that much, thanks. :) I was hoping to find out some further information, like who made it, when, how to find it, what it's about, and maybe some details about the analysis of the ending that was apparently conducted here.

Maybe i'm the odd one out here but i thought REC offered a little and delivered a little less. Seems like a lot of people here are keen to rip into Diary for its 1st person setup and then go on to sing RECs praises. I thought it was an ok film but it offered nothing new, and to be honest, although I don't dislike Diary like some in here, I think the first person thing was pretty much burnt out with Cannibal Holocaust. I mean come on, the ending to REC was almost the same as another film discussed here not so long ago. Hey, if you have seen it you will know.
And Quarantine, from the trailers looks like a shot-for-shot remake

What REC managed to do that Diary just didn't (IMHO):-
1) Actually make you think your were watching genuine camera footage, rather than a contrived attempt.
2) Actors who actually appeared genuine.
3) Events that made you jump. It's been a long time since I've squirmed and jumped like I did in those final 5 minutes of REC.

Really? Fair enough. But I didn't mean it as a REC vs Diary contest, just saying that it left me cold. And the last 5 minutes were, i thought the weakest part: I will also add, without spoilers, that 'something' at the end looked like someone was a big fan of a certain computer game. How the hell do I get a 'spoler box on here anyway?

Just trying to explain why some people 'sing [REC]s praises', while not benig so enthusiastic about Diary...

As for spoilers, just type In Titanic, the ships sinks at the end!!!

Cheers Neil. And hey, if people didnt have different opinions, wars wouldn't be fun :p
I thought the creature at the end seemed to be very similar to the one added in the Gamecube Resident Evil revamp

Oh, maybe I am just getting too fussy in my old age :(

The thing that freaked me out most about [REC] (especially the end) was I realised CGI wasn't being used... That was in the back of my head so made it all the more squirmy!

Having not seen REC I wonder if folks are nicer to it than DIARY, because the expectations are far greater when something comes from GAR who we consider to be a master in this genre. That is to say, if DIARY was produced by a director that no one had previously heard of, would it have been viewed by all of us here in the same manner?

Precisely. I also felt that the part of the camera man was a little more realistic than Diary... as well as the parts of the infected. There wasn't any "Hey there's a monster attacking my friend... I'm just going to stand 2 feet away and film it, showing no emotion, and somehow the monster's not going to attack me!"

Just saw quarentine. Liked it. It is VERY VERY much the same movie as REC, with a few tweaks. but it was nice not having to read the movie, it helped draw me into the movie a bit better. Not as good as REC all around, but still quite enjoyable.

Good! Did it feel bigger budget/more polished?

...and the ending? Was it better explained? What about the uber skinny creapy girl? Same or different?

Only a bit as far as the bigger budget, polished look goes. It really had a very similar look. The infected had more makeup. That I did notice.

very similar ending, but the whole possesion story is out the window in favor of an allusion to a scientific (and of course terrorist) explination. But you have to read fast to get that.

It's worth a watch man. The only reason that REC is better (and this is a big reason) is because REC had soul. If I hadn't seen REC first I would have LOVED Quarentine. However, since I know that it is a remake. . .well. . .it makes it a pretender to me. . you see? It lacks the original soul of REC.

I have worked with and am going to work full time at the shop that did the makeup effects for this film (Almost Human). It will definitely have cool special makeup effects in it.

I have to agree about the make-up. I am getting oh-so tired of CGC effects. Especially crappy CG gunshots. I have said befoe that I am a fan of Land but most of the bullet hits look too 'cartoony'.
