Okay, I know this one might get people going, but let's try to be respectful to each others views and not bring other aspects of politics into it...

As we all know, the U.S. presidential is almost here. My question is this: Which candidate do you think would better lead the nation through an outbreak of the living dead? I'm talking about who would be better in all aspects here: keeping the nation moralized, destroying the ghouls, and just trying to hold the nation together. Let's keep the other parts of the election out of this. (i.e. Don't debate about other issues or mudsling over topics really happening) So who do you think the better candidate would be to lead the nation through a zombie outbreak?

McCain by default. Obama's stance of "negotiate with them" would get him eaten immediately.

Well, anyone dumb enough to let the Republicans handle a disaster again deserves to get eaten in my book.

Actually, at the risk of it being said I'm not taking the rules of this thread seriously, part of me would like to see how that would work. Sorta would give me an idea on how he would do negotiating with the terrorist supporting regimes.

It would go a lot like this:

Obama: Good evening, Mr...Daddy, was it? Big Daddy?

BD: GHAAAAA!

Obama: Well, yes...um...I'm here to talk about what exactly it is you'd like from the American people...

BD (flailing arms toward Obama): WOOOOAAAHH! B-DGHGHGH! AAAHHHHHHHH!

Obama: I see.

BD (stalking up to Obama and seizing his arm): GHAA! YAAAAAAAA!

Obama: Yes, it would be a pleasure to shake your hand. It's always nice to know that, no matter your state of "life", you can.....BWAAAAA!

*Big Daddy bites a chunk out of Obama's arm, the blood spurting wildly*

BD (from around a mouthful of Barack): MMMMM-MMMM! MMMPPHHH!

.....the end.

Yikes, tough, lets see, neither, they are politicians remember, politician comes from two latin words, "poli" meaning "one of many" and "tician" meaning "blood sucking creatures", put them together and you get.......:D
I say none because as with every politician in creation they will grab what they can, hide in a bunker and let the people handle it, and when it's over they will come out to take the credit:rant:

Too late, it didn't even make it past the first reply. Nice try, though.

Anyone that thinks Washington could deal with a zombie crisis in a way that would resemble management might be interested in a bridge I have for sale.

Obama. If McCain were in office during a zombie outbreak I think he would do as Bush did after 9-11. He would send in a few troops while promising the head of Big Daddy on a stick, then immediatly focus the efforts of war to Iran (since they are the new Iraq) and completely ignore the original misison.

Or he would have a heart attack and drop dead in which case we would be stuck with Palin, who would claim to know all about the zombies because "she can see them from her doorstep." Then, when one of her kids became one she would brag about being a "Zombie mom" and how it makes her better in touch with America. After that, she would talk to "Joe-zombie 6-Pack" and try to find a solution which would not involve naming any Supreme Court rulings while skirting the real issues and firing people she didn't like anymore.

Obama would look at the situation and try to find a real solution, but he would take arms as would be necessary as I am sure he would realize they are dead and there is no negotiating.

But in either case we would be screwed as FEMA is so damaged after Bush the emergency clean up efforts would just lead to more infection and outbreaks.

I am afraid to say personally I do not think either is fit for the task, more over I am not sure who would be it would be a very difficult thing to have to "lead people through" life as we know it would change, as such so would everything about that life. I personally do not feel that our current form of government in the US would work in a "dead rise": scenario.

Instead I think you would have to look to smaller groups to police and govern, and serve people and the best interest of humanity. We would not have time to sit on our hands while bureaucracy played out in Washington. We would need snap decisions made at the local level based on an ever changing situation and one where you are not dependent upon communication on a national or global scale.

So frankly, I am going to say neither. In these two men there is strength and weakness, there is good and bad. No party is inherently better than the other from where I sit. They are all politicians, and it is the system itself that is flawed and needs to be addressed and updated for modern times in my opinion.

I will not go into my personal political affiliation that only got ugly on the old boards, and frankly it does not interest me. I will save that for yahoo chat or something if I feel like talking politics. No offense intended to the OP of course. To each his or her own.

I think both would do just fine in the role they have and that would be as an insperational leader. Mcain would be a Churchill like figure and Obama would be Bush sr. figure. Its the average citizen and the state level leadership that would be the real decider and the millitarys leadership would have a huge impact as well. Mcain and Obama would just be figureheads and they are doing pretty good job both at that.
(Edit: Figureheads are necessary btw)
