Only yesterday did I discover the impending release of Far Cry 2. I'd had no prior interest in this game but after watching a couple of vids, specifically one on the mapmaker I just had to pre-order this game (partly out of my desperate need to play something new I think).

I just can't believe I'd never had an inkling of what this game would be like until yesterday, it not only looks amazing but the open-worldness of it will hopefully mean I can flex my braincells and strategise.

I'm also glad the PC version has DRM 'cause now I don't feel bad about buying the 360 version because my PC wasn't able to run it

Anyone else wanting/getting this?

The first far cry was awesome when it was released (its very quickly dated though which is suprising as it was amazing 3 years ago!) & crysis is a sweet piece of ass!ive high hopes for this one too! :D i think it may fill some of the dark cold nights this winter for me!

It's deffo on my list - I'll get it for PC when I get my new one sometime hopefully soon.

hehe, FarCry was a LUSH game back in the day, just swimming around underwater and seeing into the water from above sea level too was awesome and all that - but you look at it now, and it's not that swanky anymore, but then again it is 3 or 4 years old now - even HL2 is struggling seriously to keep up these days even with a bunch of new visual bells and whistles.

Anyway, Crysis will be my first ... or probably second actually ... port of call when I get my new rig - the actual first will be STALKER: Clear Sky, which I've got (since start of September) but haven't played because I refuse to play it when it runs like total sh*t compared to the first which ran decent on my current rig ... plus it needs a bunch of fixes first, so after all that and a new rig - THEN I can finally play Clear Sky, it's just a shame for it to be sat there un-loved right now, well, loved but un-sexed-up shall we say. :D

Like a dude with a hot girlfriend but he's not parking the salami, what a waste. :p

the original was a good, if obscenely buggy mess, though i dont like the fact they've scrapped the story and "reinvented" it, graphics do not a good game make folks, im sorely tempted by that schweet level editor, but im not holding my hopes high compared to most recent releases like dead space.

...yes im more excited about an E.A game, welcome to bizarro world.

FarCry was buggy? Hmmm...I didn't have any major issues with it, I mean it wasn't the most efficient game that's for sure - not like HL2 or Doom 3 which were open to many more rigs than FarCry.

I certainly wouldn't class it an "obscenely buggy mess" that's for sure. Now, that would be the PC port of True Crime: New York ... my god that was an awful piece of sh*t, the sheer FPS lag was preposterous for such a low-quality-looking game running on my rig that could easily deal with the likes of HL2 and Doom 3, which were both graphically superior by a clear margin.

As for FC2, Crytek aren't involved at all, but it's still Ubisoft. Basically, it's really only a sequel in terms of hot-as-fook setting. I mean Crysis is essentially FarCry 2, but it's aliens on an island instead of mutant-things on an island.

I dont have the patience for level editors, especially seen as when you play the finished result you already know where each enemy is going to spring up etc!i know some people do it to put them online so other people can play them,so i just play their efforts, i only like serious efforts though, not ridiculously stupid ones
