the most expensive in my collection would have to be in Laser Disc form and either Star Trek Box set...don't remember the price but it was up there or the Godfather trilogy...same thing big box with the films in chronological order...includes some scene not in the originals.

The complete series of Monty Python's Flying Circus. IT was around 120-140 I believe.

After that would probably be the entire Superman Collection. Came with all the movies, special features, the old Fleischer Cartoons, and all that other good stuff. I think it was about 100 bucks..

EVIL DEAD rubber book replica: about $31 cause I thought it would be out of print soon after I bought it and then a year later I could have got both I and II books for that much. I will be pissed about this for awhile. The book isn't worth it anyway. I'd rather have a case with cover art.

I am of the opinion no movie is worth over $10 a piece and that's pushing it. When I first started buying DVDs, I wasn't that way but luckily I've been finding great deals lately along with public domain packs where you get tons of movies for less than a dollar a piece. BTW the new Night 68 disc was on sale at Circuit City for like 4.99 this week.

I think I paid $4 for my House on the Edge of the Park. It came in a Shriek Show 3 pack.

Another gripe I have is soft-matting cause I got a tube TV. I wonder if I would change my mind with a 16x9. Most soft-matted DVDs look like the shots were framed for 1.33 and the black bars suck.

The 5-disc Blade Runner box. Cost me around 80 bucks. The pricetag dropped fast tho, but meh, then it was too late.

Horrormad? Why, how and where would you spend THAT much money on those flicks?!

I got House on the Edge of the Park years ago on Region 1 for ten or fifteen quid.

Also, as it was brought up, I got the 5-disc Blade Runner (not the one in the case though) for a tenner, wicked-cool.

Most expensive bought - Dawn of the Dead 4-Disc Ultimate Edition, ended up costing me £13 more due to both import duties to pay unexpectedly, and then Royal Mail's costs of keeping it for two sodding weeks before telling me about it. So all-in-all it came to £30-something.

Most expensive owned - The Omen Trilogy, which I won at a film festival. It's apparently out-of-print now, but at the time cost £45 or £50. Three films in this fancy black, hard-cardboard, box with a bunch of stuff inside like the usual, art cards, a frame of film etc.

Mind you, buying the entire X-Files saga (separately) has set me back about £135.

Crazy! It cost me £15 the following year...

Mmm, I think the most expensive thing I ever bought moviewise was A Nightmare On Elm Street on VHS before it was released in the shops. Back in those days, brand new rentals were expensive and it cost me nearly £70.

I have to go with my various OF THE DEAD Laserdiscs. I don't think I've spent more than $50.00 on any particular VHS or DVD that I can remember. The laserdiscs on the other hand, expecially the imports are often in the $150.00 range.

Violation of the bitch (Hokushin) £215

I'm loving these titles. I can't believe you spent £215 on a movie called "Violation of the Bitch". At that price you'd want to be sure you were getting a damn good violation and a real cold bitch!

The title reminds me of this:

Yikes. With a title like that, I assume you paid the extra money to have the disassembled tape smuggled through customs in separate packages from a "specialist" in Sweden.

The 13 disc Steptoe And Son set cost me £50.

21 disc Hammer collection only cost me £35 but I saw it for £70 when it first came out.

Other than that expensive A Nightmare On Elm Street VHS I bought, I remember that I paid a good £30 for the director's cut of The Big Blue many moons ago.

I've got the OOP Barrel versions of Nekromantik 1 and 2. I paid around 12 dollars each for them and now they can fetch anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars.

I'm definitely a bargain hunter, I think the most I ever dropped on a DVD would be 50 for the Coffin Joe box set.

WOW, that's nice to here. I have Nekromantik, Schramm, The Bukowski Tapes, and Last House On Dead End Street. (all are Barrel releases)

I also have the No Shame release of Almost Human (I love this flick) which I would think is worth a bit since No Shame went under a year or so ago.

If single movie and you are referring to what one paid for it and not its current value, I pay $50 several years ago on Ebay for the first print of ZOMBIE, because it was considered OOP (Out of Print) and I didn't know at the time that MOST movies would be released again, in which this was less than a year later for $10 in stores/online and it was generally the exact same thing with a few changes. (Even the cover was basically the same!)

That ticked me off, but I learned never to do that again!

As for boxed sets, probably each of the original runs of the X-Files for $100 each season, or Star Trek: TNG for the same, with Band of Brothers a close second.

When I first started buying DVD's I was burnt a couple times this way. I've made it a rule to never pay more than 50 bucks for any movie. If you are patient and can utilize ebay, half.com, etc, you'll find a deal eventually.

Things like the Complete "Babylon 5" "SG-1", "SG-A" and "Farscape" DVD box sets all cost me around £75-£100 a pop.

Paid for a few £25's or there abouts for DVD sets like "Dawn Ultimate", "Bladerunner 5 disc set in tin" etc.

Looking to replace my complete BSG series DVD's with the Blu-Ray version soon (just got my first Blu Ray player). :)

Just guessing based on size and amount of discs, it'd have to be my Evil Dead Ultimate Edition. I also have an original Dawn VHS, back when they were made with some weight in the cassette tape. I could probably back over it with the car and it would survive. No I don't wanna do that.

I've also got a Dawn VHS that must weigh as much as a baby. It was released shortly after it's theatrical run. I don't feel like digging through my VHS' to find it, but it's got Dawn Of The Dead written on the side in dark green font, the shell case itself is white, and the cover slip in the case is this:

Yeah I got mine for free actually some time during 1997. I was living in a small town in Texas, had a friend who worked at a mom and pop video store.
They had a back room full of older stuff that couldn't take up any more space on the shelves so he let me rummage through it all. I found two copies of Dawn. I took the one in better shape of the two.

Fulci, your signature with that picture of Fulci reminds me quite a bit of the Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World".

I hardly ever buy any DVD's or Blu-Ray's. In fact, I don't ever buy DVD's at all anymore. It seems pointless to by an older format when I can eventually get it on blu-ray.

Just about any movie ever made I want to watch I can "find" to watch (ahem) anyway, so seems silly to spend money on it when it's not necessary.

And I still give the good folks over at Netflix $10 bucks a month to rent as well.
