An article on the news says he had been battling cancer for some time, but kept it secret. I guess not too many people knew his health was so poor.

I did a double-take when I read the heading. Can't believe he's gone. I liked a lot of his work, too, and am going to miss looking for new stuff. Sad news...

never dug his writing too much but jurassic park is what got me into filmmaking when i was little, and whilst he didn't make the movie at least in some small apart i wouldn't be were i am today without him writing that book rip.

I read a few of his books, prey being the most recent i read which was quite good!

And even those of you who never read one of his books must have seen "westworld" with yul brynner as the malfunctioning evil robot cowboy!

Totally badass poster!

I always guessed Yul Brynner was probably sporting something extra in his pants; who'd have thought it was a mission-control room.

I always dug Crichton's man's-arrogant-techo-amusment-park-goes-on-a-rampage theme in Westworld and Jurassic Park.

Don't know too much of his work, but what I do know was awesome. It's shame he went out this early...
