this time it is crying and bitching about a photo of gen. ann dunwoody, the first woman ever to attain the rank of 4 star general. the dept. of defense digitally put an american flag in the background. originally the background was a bookcase.
the changes to the image do not distort or misrepresent gen. dunwoody. it's her with an american flag behind her instead of a bookcase. big whoop. do us all a favor: find some actual news and report it.

Yeah it's bull**** with or without a flag really.
What's funny is the blemish removal..."our generals are HOT"

I think the point is if they change something so minimal, then what about the bigger and more damning issues? How about that vid of a UFO...pop gone. You thought you existed pop gone. ;)

Hehe, interesting point. I feel, however, that if thy were going to go to the trouble to refurbish a picture it would be a lot easier to put that purposeful splash page of an American flag up...it's just easier and more presentable for the purpose of an official announcement.

I think the media should represent reality as accurately as possible, otherwise it's like everything on the news is just some reality show or something.
ps: great avi, hellsing!

This reminds me of a British photoshop scandal, which is far more of a scandal that shoving an American flag across the entire background.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1564465/James-Purnell-in-fake-photo-row.html
James Purnell, one of those people you'd absolutely have to punch within 5 seconds of seeing his face, the smug little sh*t is a complete bastard, and evidently he's not far from controversy - aside from his photoshop scandal (which came straight off the heels of he himself denouncing the whole fake telephone calls scandal in the media), he's also:
* Been sued for Libel.
* Caught up in a case involving one of his own political researchers downloading kiddie porn onto his computer.
* Auctioned off a copy of the Hutton Report, signed by total bullying bastard Alistair Campbell (recently fired, now re-hired spin doctor who frequently sinks very low indeed, and spins like no other) - the report was regarding the suicide of a man who worked for the Ministry of Defence, after he was named in a report by the BBC about the "sexing up" of a dossier about Iraq - in other words, insanely tasteless.
* Apparently given an easy ride on Newsnight (which is notoriously hard-going on MPs) because he was shagging one of the show's producers.
* Notched up expenses of more than £120,000 - making him one of these most expensive MPs in the country.
So, compared to Purnell's fake photograph, this military thing is way out of sorts. If they'd digitally stuck in Bush or something, then yes, that's a naughty-no-no, but replacing a sh*t background completely with an American flag, what's wrong with that?
