How do you Suggest we Deal w/ Piracy?

With all the news (http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&q=Modern%20piracy&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wn) that pirates seem to be making in the news, as of late, there seems to be a lot of talk about how things are done and thought on how things might change to improve the situations.

Military convoy system for shipping. Any Somali pile of trash that attempts to approach the shipping lane gets torpedoed to the bottom.

Until these people get shown that this will NOT be tolerated, it will continue. As long as they know the rest of the world is a bunch of pussies, they have no reason to stop.

ditch most of the rules and regulations. allow navies to pursue and apprehend pirates anywhere they are encountered. any ship that is suspected of engaging in or attempting to engage in piracy is boarded and searched. any ship that attempts to run after being notified that it will be boarded gets fired on and sunk - period.

Have a couple of heavily armed special forces (or ex special forces) guys on these ships that are targeted who can see off these pirates,or as already suggested,military convoys to protect the ships!

It may be time to hire some Mercs to ride on these ships.

I chose options three through five. Arm merchant ships, let the military blow away any pirate ships they find, and try and execute the survivors in national courts.

you left out one important poll option: sending khardis after them. he'd clear out the pirates then pleasure all their women.:D:D



i left out one bit in my first post: suspected pirates should also be taken for trial either by the international criminal court or in a court of the country that captured them. since the US is not a member of the international criminal court (and hopefully never will be), a federal court with jurisdiction over piracy would probably be the best way to go about prosecuting folks accused of piracy.
