Don't quite know how they think they'll improve on the 1980s versions!

Prepare for a pretty politically correct cross section of survivors

You know, I think this might turn out okay. It's a classic story and easy to modernise, even the 1981 series was a rehash of a 1962 film. I really liked that series btw.

I wasn't aware there was a remake in the 80's.

I know the story and have read articles all about it, but have yet to see any of the actual films. The premise always sounded cool and obviously was somewhat of a genre landmark, but the particulars of the story seemed a bit...off to me.
Did anyone see it here who did not grown up with the film(s) and likes them?

Indeed. A genuine classic from the good old days when the BBC made world class drama, and not PC propaganda films...

Thanks for the link, Legion! Now I know what to look for. I'm sure I can get a region compliant dvd copy in the states and give it a shot.

Your welcome. I just checked amazon US, R1 version - $14.99 - you could probably find a 2nd hand copy for less on ebay.
Don't expect to be blown away with special effects or anything though, it's just a really good story (IMO).
