The MPAA are a bunch of religious idiots, and I doubt anyone would disagree with me on that one.

I see what you mean. Its ok for a bunny to watch a NC-17 movie, but not for a kid? And speaking of kids, what is up with the kid and the woman? A little too close to each other. Also, the teen couple looks like date rape fixing to happen.

I would have to disagree with you on that. I think that they do make assinine decisions... (see the posters above), however, for all I know they are atheists, just making a buck and doing what their job description tells them.

Yeah, I remember the supposed 'furor' over the Zach & Miri poster and this is similar stupidity.

They're basicly family moms/dads that voulenteer and they're the same kinda people who used to say that rock'n'roll led to murder and devil worshipping.

amen (hahahaha) to that. the MPAA needs to be done away with. it has way too much power and say over the film industry. i am an ardent opponent of any and all forms of censorship and the mpaa is has become nothing but an instrument of censorship.

i am an adult for fuck's sake. i can decide what i want to see and hear. as for the old, tired, sad fucking arguement about children, since i have kids i'll hold forth - it's YOUR job as a parent to take an interest in what your kids are seeing and hearing NOT the MPAA's and certainly not the govts.

rant at an end.

Boomer? Is it out of control? Should we ring the Knight Sabers?
Anyway, yeah... ratings are stupid... ignore at all times.

ratings aren't stupid, there to classify the content of a film based on certain criteria, how many times are certain swear words used, is there nudity, is it below the waist, is there sex, murder. its not there to be ignored, but it should be a helpful guideline for people to get an idea about a flick which you cant always get from a poster, and to guide parents on what to show there kids.

not some divine infallible law set in stone to restrict viewing of a medium of art.

You've only just gotten onto this issue? This happened months ago. :p

They didn't like the reference to 'going down' on each other in the poster, hence they did the stick drawing one, meanwhile SAW V has a bloke wearing a dead guy's face and that gets an R with ease, meanwhile a movie with a soft heart about people making a f*ck tape gets NC-17'd.

And the bit where shit comes out only lasts about 17 frames or whatever.

The MPAA are twats, and they need to seriously lighten up when it comes to sex, because they're all having it themselves, like quite a number of the global population, so chill out already.

Yeah....not a big fan of the MPAA. If you haven't, you should watch This Film Is Not Yet Rated. It shows how pointless and unorganized they are.

What's even worse is that Zack and Miri poster was banned....while this one was allowed?:stunned:

Bassman - hell yeah, the MPAA seem like a bunch of wankers. I've seen the doc you mentioned, it's bloody good too, very revealing.

Blimey, I'd never seen that GLC poster before, although I've only seen snippets of the film itself (yeah, Dane Cook ... not that fussed :D) ... although ... Jessica Alba's panties ... ... so it's a toss-up really. :D

But damn, that's hypocritical right there.

I guarantee you Zack and Miri got a shit-ton of shit simply because it said "Porno" in the title. Guarantee you. Pathetic, isn't it?

... Jessica Alba's panties ...

Yum! :D

I knew there was a reason I needed to see this movie!

There was a GREAT movie on the US rating system but I can't remember the name of the flick! They went through the rating agency (MPAA) and followed the members and dug through the garbage to find rating notes... then submitted the film for a rating! Great movie...and I know one of the peeps here will know the name of this one!
