Which apocalyptic film is more your thing? Which floats your boat more?

Deep Impact. Better speeches, better cast and at least a somewhat darker end, I thought.

Neither of the above save-the-earth flicks even approaches Sunshine, however.

In rebuttal, Sir:

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Every moment spent with you
Is a moment I treasure

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Laying close to you
Feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together
I just wanna stay with you
In this moment forever, forever and ever

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
Feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
'Cause I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
I don't wanna miss a thing

'Nuff said, indeed! :barf:

Deep Impact. I like how they focus on what life would be like on earth, rather than what life would be like for a group of cowboys who have to become astronauts in ten days.

Deep Impact was a bit more serious, but Armageddon was waaayyyyy more fun.

I had a free poster for Armageddon from McDonald's... where did I put it? Ah well, that's a good enough reason, right?

Any movie with Tea Leoni named Deep. . .well. .Deep Anything, gets my vote.

But it was better at showing the actual reaction of the populous.

my sentiments exactly. no wonder duchovny had a sex addiction.

back to the topic at hand: i would say neither because i think they are both turds. the science in armageddon makes me want to poke my eardrums out so i never have to hear such shit again. armaggedon is by far one of the biggest cinematic scientific calamities and a candidate for "movie with the stupidest science ever", so i'll go with deep impact...

here is a little factoid about just how stupid armageddon's science is:

The physics and scientific approach of Armageddon was criticized for its poor adherence to the laws of physics, such as the asteroid having gravity similar to Earth. This has led NASA to show the film as part of its management training program. Prospective managers are asked to find as many inaccuracies in the movie as they can. At least 168 impossible things have been found during these screenings of the film.[11] For example, Shuttles would not and could not be landed on an asteroid, even if they could, they wouldn't subsequently be able to leave. It also wouldn't be possible to build the shuttles fast enough, whether building from scratch or modifying existing shuttles. The movie also adheres to standard Hollywood conventions when it comes to science, such as depicting there being noise in space. Explosions were also shown to be sustained in the vacuum of space.

this is only a minor snippet. armaggedon is totally infamous when it comes to scientific idiocy.

mike, it had Bruce Willis ffs.

I wonder why they just didn't shoot him at the asteroids core instead of using a nuke. it would be far more effective.

also, Deep impact, the acting was far superior, had no Ben Affleck, and the way they showed how the world could change was pretty awesome. also, no sappy Aerosmith song.

jesus christ.

ALSO, I read a report (several) about the inaccuracies of the film..it was pretty cool..my favorite had something to do with spinning the space station to restore gravity or something to that affect.

Both shite. Deep Impact was po-faced, pseudo-intellectual and took itself too seriously, Armageddon was just shallow and trashy.
