my biggest bitch about subtitles is when they are in a scale of black or white that is damn near impossible to see during some scenes of the movie.

i'd agree that in a fast paced movie subs can be a bizzle to follow. they work best in movies by folks like herzog or bergman where the action and editing isn't measured in nanoseconds.
