Only two weeks left until the first GTA IV download is released. I can't wait...I assume there are other GTA fans on here right?
What do you all expect/hope for in the new DLC? I'd like the new weapons to be totally different from the normal weapons, maybe even a bit more realistic. I hope it isn't ALL motorcycle riding, cause I suck at those :)

Well, it centers around a motorcycle gang, so I think it's safe to say you'll be doing quite a bit of bike riding.
Also, my newest issue of Game Informer has a few quick sentences about there being a new GTA game by this holiday season. I really hope they do something like San Andreas again. I think that with modern tech, they could do really good stuff with varied terrains like SA had. Also, I felt Liberty City just gets so repetitiv and stale; I sold the game only after only a couple of months and not even finishing the story line.

MEH.:bored:
4 was a tiresome rehash of the same 4 for 5 missions 5 or 6 times. it had a few nice new touches but it was more of an update than a new installment in a series. i hope the rumors of a gta tokyo are true and itll put some new life into the stale engine.

It is a big part of it. You are a biker in this game, but I read they improved the handling of the bike. And you do not get thrown off as much. Also, the main character gets a special bike to use and has escorts accompanying him during missions. Its a gang, remember. I have read only good things about this add-on.

*side steps hellsing's big, smelly "meh" droppings*
I don't have XBL, so I won't be getting my mits on the DLC unfortunately. :(
Sucks indeed.
But I have been back into GTA IV lately, I'm a mere 12 minutes away from officially clocking up 100 hours of gameplay in the stats menu. :D Although I've played for more than that, if you take into account times when you occasionally get a crash or a glitch you can't get out of, or when you just fuck around for shits and giggles but don't actually save what you've been up to.
The rumours about a "new" GTA by Xmas are total bullshit though - NOT TRUE in the slightest bit.
...
When they do get around to a new GTA, I want varied terrain, and the ability to carry out a shitload more mayhem than you can at the moment - you get the cops on your ass way too quickly - also, improve the move/look situation, all that constant 'tugging' of the view to face a certain way while you're manually using the right stick to look about does annoy me a fair bit.
Odd that in an entire city - not one single weapon silencer - what's that about?
Sometimes I just wanna go on a spree down back streets in GTA IV, but you can rarely manage it as the cops are always getting on your case, even when you're a vigilante taking down bad guys - cut some slack, yo.
A cheat mode - or "fun mode" - where you have infinite health and ammo, would be a neat addition, just so you could go around causing mayhem as it's own separate thing.
Perhaps regenerating health - like in Saints Row - it's not like the health system is realistic anyway, you can take quite a few bullets before 'dying', only to be resurrected after a magical injection of cash, or by swallowing a magical hot dog from a street vendor - so bring on the regenerating health for the player, I say.
Also - MORE ENTERABLE BUILDINGS WITH SOMETHING TO DO INSIDE THEM PLEASE - there's a fair few buildings you can enter, but you rarely know which ones most of the time, and when you're inside there's naff all but corridors and stair wells, and not even any residents to pwn or flats to bust into.
And, more shit to do after you've completed the story mode - bowling and darts ain't enough by any stretch of the imagination. I want variety - and that extends to the environment too - but more Vice City than San Andreas.
SA had good variety and the best graphics of GTA III through SA, but the plot was absolute shit, the characters were rubbish, and the stuff you could do after the plot was finished weren't that great. I still got a LOT of play out of SA, but it was no Vice City.
I think GTA IV is better than San Andreas, but IV doesn't improve on certain aspects (it gets worse), while on other aspects it gets infinitely better...so it's a mixed bag of results.
We need more stuff like that in the game, as well as slightly less seriousness, and slightly more silliness to redress the classical GTA balance.
GTA IV is still an awesome game - but it's not 10/10 perfect - and those are some things I'd address first of all ... as well as set it in the 1970s. Damn it, Vice City was freaking awesome and that was in the 1980s, we need a next gen Vice City, and the 70's is as early as you could go.
It'd be like The French Connection meets Vanishing Point with a side order of Animal House - what wouldn't there be to love about a GTA game like that?
I'd still give GTA IV like 92%, it's just those finishing touches to round it out and level it off that are missing in my view.

Is it because you feel it should've been replayable enough on release? Because if it is can sort of understand where you're coming from.
I will probably get this eventually... I had a bit of an XBox 360 stint just before Christmas, in that time I completed Far Cry 2 and did a fair few GTAIV missions but still haven't completed it.

Yeah I read that in Game Informer. It's POSSIBLE, but I frankly don't see it happening. Especially now with Rockstar's announcement of the new Red Dead Revolver, I think their hands are full for now. Besides, they're going to do a couple of new DLC things with the 360, so I think they'll finish those first. Does anyone know what it's going to cost? I would assume $20, but I could be wrong.

still not heard anything bout a price, but i'm assuming it's gonna be 15 or 20 dollars. need to hurry up and finish my fallout 3 DLC, as i've barely scratched the surface of that....spending too much time at work and working out lately..but that's irrelevant.
i've heard they've got a bunch of new hip-hop "music" included with this DLC, which sucks a fat one, cuz i don't know of many bikers who listen to much of that stuff. i was hoping for much more metal and classic rock.
i'm getting ready to head down south for mardi gras, so i may end up waiting to download this until i return home in early march. but i'm really ready to get back into exploring liberty city, so who knows...
and MZ, if you didn't hear yet, they're making the XBL gold service free for a week, so there goes half of your problem for not having a reason to jump on this one....i'm telling ya dude, just move your shit downstairs for long enough to update your console and get this add-on.

I don't have a 360 hard-drive, and I'm not sure if we have the right kind of internet for it ... we have broadband, but we're fairly rural out here ... I have 3 months of free Gold saved up anyway from various things (one when I got it, one when I got it returned from fixing, and another from inside some game).
The lack of hard-drive is the main thing really. :p

You can pick up a 20 gig hard drive for about forty quid these days, and in Zavvi we sold the 60GB drive for £70 before we closed down, I'm sure there are other stores out there that had the same deal.
Also, as long as you have broadband you're okay. My mum has fairly slow ADSL broadband but my wee brother can still use XBL, you just need to plug an ethernet cable from your Xbox to the back of the modem.

Ethernet cable? I don't think we've got that ... or is that what plugs into our broadband modem?
I've got no idea about such things, I looked at the port on the back of my Xbox, and it didn't look like the right thing for us - our modem plugs into our computer via USB, not ethernet - ergo, not the right connection methinks?

:annoyed: All this time I've been thinking you had dial-up! Broadband is the only way to connect to XBOX Live. Ethernet cables look similar to phone cables, but bigger, and yes they are what plug into your broadband modem. I don't think your modem is connected via USB? I dunno if computers can get internet via USB.

Yeah, as Mike said, it looks a lot like a phone cable and plugs from the modem into the PC. If you have an old PC without an ethernet port, modems can also be plugged in via USB (my modem came with both USB and ethernet cables), but ethernet is a lot faster for internet use and has become the standard and I don't think the Xbox can connect to a modem via USB.
There's about a 95% chance you've already got an ethernet cable plugged into your PC, just whip it out and plug it into your Xbox. Although you'll need a hard drive to use most of what XBL has to offer.

Dial up?! In this day and age?!
There's a cable that's like an ethernet looking thing, but smaller, going into the broadband modem, and then from the modem there is a USB cable that goes into the computer.
We had our computers hooked up via a router to the internet with ethernet cables at uni, I still have mine and it's certainly bigger than the dainty looking thing round the back of this PC.

Have a look and see if it fits into the socket on the Xbox and into the back of your broadband modem.

No word yet but for a game this deep i don't mind shelling the out extra cash for new content. What bothers me is when you have a 5-10 hour campaign and then they have they nerve to charge you for DLC that should have come in the package in the first place, especially considering the base price that they charge for these games.

I was paying off a pre-order yesterday and they had it displayed at GS for $20. I am assume that it could be purchased from a game retailer if you do not have XBL.

guess it depends on personal preference, but if i had to chose one over the other, i think i'd take the dlc for gta over the fallout3 stuff. it may be more expensive, but there's a lot more packed in.
http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/947/947252p1.html
or, to make a long read short:
"Depending on skill level and amount of time you spend messing around, Rockstar expects The Lost and Damned to take anywhere from 12-20 hours to complete. And that's just the single-player story. For $20 (1,600 MSP), L&D offers a full-fledged campaign, new locations, new mini-games (arm wrestling!), refined gameplay mechanics, new vehicles, new weapons, a hefty new soundtrack, new DJs, new TV shows, new Internet sites, and new multiplayer."
well worth the $$ if you're a fan of gta games.
