View Full Version : What Do You Collect?

I'd be interested to know what exactly you guys are collecting. Concentrating on any particular film of the quadrilogy, on a special area (posters for example), or maybe a particular country? I, for one, only collect original and officially licensed "Dawn" memorabilia from the German-language era; for three reasons: A) Germany had the broadest variety of promotional material for the film; B) it is of great sentimental value to me (I am Austrian and first saw "Dawn"/"Zombie" in a theater in 1980, at the age of 10 - of course, all the posters and lobby cards used over here came from the German distributor, Constantin Film); and C) some of the German stuff appears to be among the most sought-after/collectable international items. Over the last few years, I've managed to gather pretty much everything that is of real interest - all the different posters, lobby cards (not the two large ones, though), the super-rare red promo slide issued for in-theater use, an unread copy of the novelization, a complete set of the Super-8 reels, the banned "Marketing" videos and so on. The only thing I'm still missing is a truly Mint condition copy of the "Polydor" soundtrack LP.

Actually, I am poster collector. I have tons of Zombie movie posters, mostly the movies I really like. I do have afew LOTD posters, but thats because I like the posters. However, I have lots of DAWN 1978 and 2004 posters, my Night 90 quad, Shaun QUAD and US. DAWN 2004 QUAD and 6'x4' Subway banner (the banned UK version).

I have a few trailers - Shaun, DAWN 04, LAND, ROTLD 1, ROTLD 2, Hellboy, and Slither.

Japanese Programs for DAWN 04, and the Chirasi Posters for DAWN 2004.

I collect...
Romero Laserdiscs (NTSC only)
Romero Sountracks
Romero Toys
Romero related autographs
Romero related magazines and books
Romero related DVDs and archived TV broadcasts

About the only thing I do not supplement my GARchive with is posters, because I am married and not allowed to display such filth :) In my "lab" I have a Dawn print with several signatures on it, and I have a few autographed 8X10's up, and some figures on shelves.

axlish is my hero!:D

At the moment, I seem to be collecting way too much of my own artwork (paintings and scupltures *clay*) I have one room in my house that's for "creativity" and half of the basement FULL of stuff!! I'm thinking bout running an add and having some sort of auctin this summer. Maybe, have a local jazz band play out back and serve Mimosas and hors d'oeuvres.

I've never been much into collecting things. Material things, that is. I love to browse through friends' collections and find it facinating, but, I never got into it.

Big fat Ditto.
Tony Moore is the bomb. He doen't even do the covers anymore. The current Artist id really, really bad at drawing eyes.
I live about a 5 minute walk from a comic store, and he won't carry it because it's not X cr*p.
Jeez.

I have a nice collection of pre code horror and crime comics. Crime does not pay etc. Small, but nice. I like non hero genre books alot. Ihave alot of 1960s warren imitations that have so much gore they're pornographic. Big on ECs, Blazing Combat, Crumb. Have the two banned/destryed Air Pirates book. Got em at a Hassidic flea market in San Francisco (?!) for a total of 50 cents. My crowning Achievment. If your into alt/underground stuff you'd wet your pants over that find.
Plus about 22 Bukowski Books.
Plus a BILLION dvds. I dont count them. Plus a tons of VHS gathering dust.

My only peice of GAR stuff is a Land Lobby Card.

Lets see, well I collect "DEAD film" collectables. Figures, books, recorded interviews that I've done with quite a few of, actors autographs,...
Personal things .. I collect Gargoyles, all types , figues, statues, figurines, candlesticks, hourglasses..etc about 78 of them...
I also collect skulls( yes weird I Know) I have a collection of over 200 of them, all shapes and sizes from peanut sized to full sized real human skulls.
Most are human, some are candles..or made of wax, some ceramic, some polyurethane, most human though, some shaped as demons, some with top hats, no Anarchy styled allowed, no Grateful Dead either... just plain skulls.
I also collect eightballs... It's been my other screen name for 10 years now ( AteBall) and my daughter started it, she started bringing home magic eightball items, then rubber balls, I have a full sized 8Ball basket ball & a small one ( 5 inches)...
And as a typical kid raised in the 70's .. Kiss memorabilia... you name it... I probably have it, not the new corny stuff mind you, the old collectables...original Kiss dolls in their boxes, Kiss bobble heads, the newer 20 ' destroyer figures, the entire album collection on vinyl includin KISS -The originals limited pressing, all poster and mail order stuff still inside including the "unmasked" poster and all four solo albums with the interlocking posters to make one huge one. Matchbox cars etc etc ...
My office is a maze of this crazy collection and my wife avoids it as much as possible... my son's boys love Poppy's toys though... it's like their own private toy store ...:elol:

Like alot of people here, I collect DVD's. I also collect hats, everywhere I go I get a hat :). I am a major collector of Superman items. If it's Superman it's potentially mine . Just depends on the cash flow at the time :). McFarlane figures... New York Yankees memorabilia... I used to have a huge comic book collection but had to sell them off years ago because of that old cash flow problem :). I wish I had them now :|.

One thing I always wanted to collect were authentic NHL sweaters of every team but just never had the money for that. The authentic's can run into the $200 range for each & of course each team has at least 2 sweaters . If I ever win the lottery I'll get a big ass house & one of the rooms will finally have those sweaters proudly displayed :).

Original US advertising on:

NIGHT (1967-1986) 235+ original items (incl: FLESH EATERS / ANUBIS)

DAWN (1977-1986) 79+ original items

DAY (1984-1987) 34+ original items

LAND (2003-2005) 20+ original items

Each title collection includes: theater posters (studio and exhibitor-created), lobby cards, presskits, pressbooks, heralds, photos, theater promos, early promos, theater flyers & calendars, trade and newspaper ads and articles, & more. Numbers do not include duplicate items which (in NIGHTs case) are in the hundreds as well.

I've collected on/off for years, since the mid-70s, originally focusing on cult or midnight movie titles or directors. Most of the non-Romero title material was sold off, excepting some choice bits from DEATH RACE 2000, CLOCKWORK ORANGE, EXORCIST, TCM, PULP FICTION, STUNT MAN, ROSEMARY'S BABY /etc ...

I also (still) have a sizable advertising collection from 1975's ROLLERBALL, mostly focusing on game material or art by Bob Peak (game poster kit, art litho kit, silver foil advance poster, rare orig lobby standee, plus other photo and paper material).

I have a few boxes of celeb-signed material from (mostly) 50's B-horror/sci-fi hits, though much of that is being sold (currently) as well. I used to collect EC's MAD Comics/etc back in the 70s, when I was friends with one of their editors, though sold all that off in the late 80s.

Wanna quick peek at (some) of the NIGHT stuff?

Some material (NIGHT) has appeared in Joe Kane's recent book, as well as the recent kick-ass "unofficial" documentary that blew the balls off the official one some time before.

I also trade, by the way, if anyone has anything similar ...

I'm kind of a junk collector. I have a shelf full of everything from sea shells, colorful rocks, antique glass bottles, Asian-themed figurines like dragons and buddahs, candles, mardi gras beads (which is ironic because I've never been to a mardi gras parade), and other weird stuff like a crystal ball, a rattle snake statue, and a cool succubus action figure from the Castlevania games.

I don't really collect anything zombie-related, but I'm seriously considering trying to buy those Attack of the Living Dead action figures. I saw them at Spencer's Gifts years ago but couldn't afford to buy them at the time and now I can't find them anywhere in stores, so I may just try to order them offline some day if they're not ridiculasly expensive by now. Here's some pictures of them:

I collect body parts, and I will be caught some day and you'll hear all about me. I plan on making Ed Gein look like the babysitter. Haaaaaa...Hahahaha!!! LOL!
He was a babysitter.

Cool stuff in this thread, wish I had some of the stuff I've seen here. Since I have kids, the only thing I collect are wrinkles and gray hairs. I used to collect He Man stuff, but when my son was little, I gave them to him to play with...
And everything was destroyed quickly. That hurt.
I also have a huge collection of vinyl, but haven't added to it since the 90's. No record shops around these parts, unless you count places that sell alot of reprinted crap. I have alot of 80's 12" stuff: Most everything from Duran, IDOL, Adam Ant.

Pretty much the only thing I'm into now is comics and I have really scaled back on that and just get my main titles every month now.
I started getting 'The Walking Dead' monthly starting with issue #23 or #24 and have everything from issue #20 up, with a smattering of the lower issues which I collect when I get a chance. My main goal is to get the whole run. I also get the trade's when they are released to loan people and to use when I re-read the series instead of reading the issues over and over. The trades are great to have as I've gotten more than a couple people into the series, especially now that more people are familiar with it with the show and all.
The other comics I get monthly are:
'Scalped' : an organized crime type book which takes place in present times on an Indian Reservation in the American Mid-West (highly recommend. It's on DC's Vertigo imprint.)
'Wasteland' : From Oni Press. Basically a post-apocalyptic tale with sc-fi elements and religious overtones. (supposed to be bi-monthly, but issues nowadays are getting hard to come by as a new issue hasn't been released for months now.
'Punisher MAX' : Great title from the Marvel Max imprint. For Mature readers and is not set in the regular Marvel Universe, but basically takes place in "our" universe IYKWIM?
'Conan' : I only collect the hardcover trades now as they (Dark Horse) really make an attractive hardcover trade.

I used to collect McFarlane Sports Picks and the WWE Classic Superstars figures before they moved from Jakks to Mattel.

I read a lot of pro wrestling biographies and buy many of those.

Also like buying books. My main interests right now are horror, fantasy and science fiction. Really recommend David Wellington's (the writer of "The Monster" trilogy of walking dead/zombie books) first novel about vampires, titles '13 Bullets.' I'm reading it right now and I've got to admit it is the best vampire book I've ever read and is shaping up to be one of the best horror novels I've read....period. It's that good. The reason I like it so much is because it portrays a story about vampires as realistically as possible (well as realistically as a vampire story can be lol).
