I'm actually more interested in who would be playing Phoebe Cate's character. But as for Brand....I don't think it will work.
Drop Dead Fred. Haven't seen that flick in many, many years....

I'd heard a rumour that Russell Brand was going to be the new Drop Dead Fred.

Yup (http://joblo.com/brand-drops-dead).:|
Being written by the guy behind the upcoming Land of the Lost remake. And they're going for a tone similar to Beetlejuice. Yeah...because that will work.

You cannot replace a drunken Dudley Moore. He was one of a kind. I miss him, too.

Almost makes you think there's something to that "the world will end in 2012 according to the Mayan calendar" thing. There must be a finite number of original ideas in the universe, and we're now scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Hollywood, with all of it's inbreeding and self-importance and self-congradulatory smugness will be responsible for the downfall of western civilization.

As it happens, I met Rik Mayall at a concert in London (his son, Sid, was playing drums) and he is absolutely 100% as nutty as he is in The Young Ones, Bottom and Drop Dead Fred. In fact, when I commented that his son was a nifty little drummer, he beamed at me and said, "Yesss, and to think he came from my PENIS!!!"
But anyhoo, this movie is a waste of time because Mayall is irreplacable.

Once read an interview with pro skateboarder Steve Olsen where he greets his son one day with, "Good morning, son. You came from my penis." The dude (since it was last year) was around 45 or something. Reminded me. Remakes must die!!!!!
